Good deal!
Cooper was going to leave before we knew if it we did not take care of this one. Glad to see the Astros making a wise decision. Now the offseason will really be where we see what kind of team this Astros squad is going to have.

A post like this makes me feel old. I remember watching him play at Fenway Park when he was a rookie. Anyway, glad to hear he's doing well.

Head coach? The Astros aren't reverting to that old Cubs scheme of "rotating managers," are they? Anyway, good for Cecil!

Forget it. He's from Texas. That's hard-core football territory. In football, we have coaches, not managers.
Reminds me when I was a young kid. My family was on vacation in Texas. We went to visit my dad's cousin in Dallas. He was a season ticketholder for both the Cowboys and the Texas Rangers. At the time, the Rangers had only been in Texas for six or seven years. My dad's cousin took us all to a game.
My dad asked his cousin about whether the Texas fans were taking to baseball. He said, "Sort of, but it's really still football country here."
Almost as if on cue, a player on the Royals sent a ball deep into the corner -- trouble if it was fair. The guy next to us jumps up and yells, "Get out of bounds!"
The ball landed in the seats but out of bounds.

One of the many reasons why the Cubs have gone almost a century without a world championship.

Too bad they made a bad decision on the GM front.

Did you see the GM kept both the assistant GMs that the previous GM had? Basically, we kept everyone and just replaced our GM.
Interested to see how Cooper's style contrasts that of Garner though. That may be the biggest difference between what we had and where we are now -- unless Wade shows some chutzpah during the draft. That's looking doubtful because I think that comes down to the owner and wanting to abide by how Bud Selig wants teams to act post-draft as it relates to signing $$$...

What do you mean?
He wants it to be slotted instead of a team giving first round money to a fifth round pick...
Uncle Drayton is buddy-buddy with Bud and would not want to upset him...
