I don't know if this has been mentioned if it has well.....I've been gone for a few weeks and I don't feel like looking through all of the topics.

Western Kentucky is once agained one of the Top 12 mascots vying for Mascot of the Year and Monte is back! There are some newbies this year as well including Virginia Tech. So each week who ever gets the most votes wins. This week (Week 3) Western Kentucky's Big Red is up against Southern Mississippi. Here are the rest of the match-ups.

Zippy (Akron) vs. Otto (Syracuse)
Big Red (Western Kentucky) vs. Seymour (Southern Mississippi)
Joe Bruin (UCLA) vs. Cocky (South Carolina)
Cavman (Virginia) vs. Hokiebird (Virginia Tech)
Goldy Gopher (Minnesota) vs. Cosmo (BYU)
Hairy Dawg (Georgia) vs. Monte (Montana)

Duke Dawg's probably pissed because he got screwed in '04. He went undefeated against all the other mascots, but somehow Monte beat him for the title. I still do not understand that.

BUT, I would've much rather beaten Monte the way we did in '04 than win the Mascot Challenge.xthumbsupx

I refuse to vote in this and I work for Capital One. I don't understand their choice of mascots each year!

Universities send tapes in, and then the pick from that and some other criteria that I'm not exactly aware of. I can tell you when the "original Monte" won it was because he was one of the most athletic and innovative mascots out there. He is now Benny the Bull for the Chicago Bulls.
