For the record, the Griz are soft-shoeing their No. 1 ranking.

“Honestly I don't feel any different this week than I felt last week,” said senior receiver Ryan Bagley.

Hauck figures there is still a giant among the FCS, and that is two-time national champion Appalachian State, despite the Mountaineers' loss to Wofford last week.

“I think that the prevalent attitude on our football team is the defending champs are the team to beat, until somebody knocks them out of the playoffs,” Hauck said. “They won at Michigan to open the season, and frankly the rankings are fairly irrelevant at this point of the season.”

So Hauck can say this, and its viewed as level-headed. I can't say this without being vilified simply because of my geographical point of reference.

I think I can recall 90% of Griz fan posts regretting being #1 and wishing we were #2 or #3 at this point.xnodx I don't recall any Griz fan saying we deserve it yet.

My ballot looked exactly like the Sports Network and Coache's poll for the top 10. And my #1 vote was more in protest to all the scathing anti Griz babble going on here before the vote than my believing they deserve it. I was going to put them #2 till NDSU fans pissed me off.xlolx xlolx

Furman fell into the #1 spot in 2005 when UNH lost and we were on a bye week. No Paladin fan actually thought us the top team in the land. We were just kinda there by default.

We were ranked #1 in 2004, went to SHSU and got thumped. I don't think we deserved that ranking then, and I don't thing we deserve it now.
