Agreed on both accounts. xnodx
BTW, this is the second Redskins throwbacks I like more than their current unis.

I was watching Fox to see the Giants yesterday, and when they switched after the Eagles game finally ended, I didn't know if it was live video, or if the yellow-helmeted, yellow-pants team the Giants were playing was from last week's game vs. the Packers.
Buck and Aikman got a few jabs in at the Eagles unis during the broadcast, mostly in the form of:
Buck: McNabb and the Eagles played well today, even dressed like they were.
Aikman: Yeah, those were god-awful, weren't they?

When did they change from Burgundy to metalic Dark Red? I'd be willing to bet when Little Danny took over.
Gibbs always wears white, except when the Cowboys make them wear their colors down there. Are the Redskins and Cowboys the only teams that WANT to wear their whites at home?

Most of the southern teams that play outdoors like to wear their whites at home in September day games. Panthers, Dolphins, Chargers, Jaguars all do, at least. I don't know about anyone else that does it all season long.

Don't like them. The Eagles actually wore these colors at one time?

Yup, I believe for only one year in 1933.

I think their burgundy is still the same, but they rarely wear it anymore. Gibbs has gone back to burgundy pants this year with the white tops... I hated the Good Humor look.
As VR said, there are quite a few other teams that do it now too. I still hate the fact that NFL and NHL have taken to doing whatever the hell they want. NFL was always dark at home (unless Dallas was coming to town) and NHL was always white at home. They way it should be.
It was only a couple years ago that I noticed that in MLB the visiting team wore their city name on the jersey and their nickname at home... I did see an exception to that this year, but I can't remember who it was... somebody came to DC with their nickname on their darker unis.

Those uniforms don't look too bad for a team called the Frankford Yellow Jackets. Darn near perfect.

I guess. It just looks brighter than what I remember. Maybe its my memories that are dimming? I just get the feeling that the Skins are a shade or two away from being the Chiefs.
This looks like a duller burgundy.

How many concussions did you have at Towson? xeyebrowx :p
The color looks the same to me. I still think their darker burgundy throw backs were fantastic though....

Although the 'Skins throwbacks didn't look too bad yesterday, I dislike the fact that they were used in attempt by then coach Vince Lombardi to make the Redskins look more like his Packers. I understand the yellow helmets were shelved when Lombardi retired/died/both.

Funny. None. I think I had one in HS though.
Maybe it's the old mustardy yellow compared to the brighter yellow. Regardless, I can't blame it on Danny.
I wonder if they would wear those darker jerseys with the helmets and pants they wore yesterday? I don't think we'll ever find out.

Lombardi died before they used them. The Skins wore them for the 70 and 71 seasons.

Nope. The mustard lids will be retired forever after that loss.
BTW.... THANK GOD IN HEAVEN that they lost yesterday... going into a bye week I don't think I could have taken two weeks of 3-0 Skins fans on sports talk radio. xsmhx :p

I don't know what idiot selected the Eagles throwbacks.. but they couldn't have made a much worse choice.. they could have gone withe the NFL Champion uniforms from '48 or '60 or the Super Bowl team of '80.. but no.. they pick the a god ugly uniform of the 'Frankfort Yellowjackets.. later to become the Philadelphia Eagles. xeekx xmadx xnonono2x

Can't blame this one of the Yellow Jackets:
Bert Bell and Lud Wray bought the team's franchise on July 9, 1933 under the name "Philadelphia Eagles". Some people assume that a simple name change transformed the Yellow Jackets into the Eagles, but that is not the case. Bell and Wray did not buy the Yellow Jackets team but rather the franchise, or the right to field a team in the NFL, that formerly had belonged to the Frankford Athletic Association. That franchise (Yellow Jackets) had been revoked by the league in 1931. As licensees, Bell and Wray then formed an entirely new team to operate under the old franchise. The NFL therefore treats the Jackets and Eagles as separate teams.

These jerseys were worn in 1933 during the Eagles first year. They're based on the city flag:

Cardinals and Orioles have done this for years, that I can remember, which is pretty much back to the mid-90s. Phillies too. Still, a solid decade. Angels might do it too, don't know with all the changes they had resulting from Disney's ownership.

These were actually the unis and helmet design that Vince Lombardi designed when he joined the 'Skins in 1969 but never lived to see when they were introduced in 1970. They were modeled on the Packer uniform design of the time, and Lombardi wanted a specific style of dark red, very similar to the Fordham colors he wore. George Allen kept the uniform design but changed the helmet by 1972.

Those Eagle uniforms were pretty bad, even worse than UCLA...but...they did beat the crap out of the then 2-0 Lions, so maybe it works for them. I'm sure, however, they'd like to go back to their greens as soon as possible.

I consider the 'Iggles' unis to be the 'throw-up' variety...I think the players were so embarrassed that explains the blowout of the Lions.
