Cole B. is playing almost perfect football! I am impressed with the solid play at QB. He has the slow and steady approach and with the help of great running backs, stud receivers and a massive athletic O line, they wear defenses out. He is showing great leadership and may be the X factor for the Griz this year! xthumbsupx I think he deserves the player of the week!! Any thoughts!

It is nice to have a QB who has "grown up" with the system, and therefore understands it. That, and having Ochs as the QB coach.

I can't wait for the Griz to open up the playbook for conference action.

I'll be the first Bobcat to admit that Cole is scaring me a little. I actually thought it was a good thing for the rest of the Sky when Hauck gave him the starting nod, but It's clear he's grown up a ton since the last time he was thrust into that role.

Nobody was talking about us.

But yes, Cole is better than the last time we saw him. I will also admit that. It'll be interesting to see what happens once UM is in the thick of league play in a few weeks.

Cole has been a nice surprise. QB was one of the areas of concern that I had going into the season because of lack of play that Cole has had. He knows the system and some of the throws he has against Albany were thrown before the receiver made his cut which was good to see.

Why didn't App get crap for posting 500 posts of Penn St or Ohio state fans celebrating? Could have used the homer icon for that as well. Nothing wrong with complementing your team as it also gets info out to other teams about how they are playing..

So much for a discussion thread. I'm interested in what other think of the UM QB at this point. I know the competition hasn't been stellar, but I'm reasonably impressed so far.

Funny isn't it how anyone from any school can post a positive about their school, team, or facilities on this board except a Griz fan. Go back 6 months and count the number of threads that talk about a stadium, attendance, facilities, players, the Coach, or any other subject relating to a school. And I'll wager there are fewer from Griz fans than some other schools. Especially ASU. xlolx xlolx

No. Cole did play 2 years ago but then Josh Swogger transferred from Washington St last year and Cole only played against South Dakota St (and had a good game by the way!)

I'm just surprised so far. I would have bet anything that Rolo would have better numbers than Cole so far, even with the competition differences. We'll see how it plays out in conference.

That's right...I remember some controversy about Hauck switching to Swogger last year....so is Cole a junior...senior...? Andwhat has Hilliard done so far this year?

Pinpoint passing is pinpoint passing no matter who you play and Cole has been deadly accurate. 73% completion average. He also is showing breakaway running ability. He looked alot like a guy named Lulay in the Albany game.

Cole is IMO a real team-guy that recognizes the strenghts of the offense, even if he is not included in some of them (IE Lex & the O-line on certain plays) - we will see how he does later on.

Cole's a Junior. Hilliard is leading the Big Sky in rushing at 110 yards per game on 57 carries, 5.8 yards per carry, 6 TD's.

Cole has been a real pleasant surprise. I felt all summer that he was the question mark in the offense and he has gone a long ways toward putting those fears to rest. Granted, he does a stupid thing every now and then but the good things have been awesome, ie; running ability, wow....passing has been very good....judgement has been very good and he is still maturing and learning. He has the potential to be very, very good. I would hate to be planning defensive strategy against this team.

I do have concerns with the defensive secondary. A good passing team will be our stiffest competition. Eastern Wash. will be very interesting.

No real surpise that he's doing well. I saw some flashes of solid play when EWU played you guys in Missoula 2 years ago.

Here's the current QB stats for the conference. With EWU's secondary, there's definite potential for a pass-fest at WGS in two weeks.

PASSING (by QB rating) G PA PC Pct Yds TD Int Yds/G Yds/A Rating
1. Cole Bergquist, Montana 3 67 49 73.1 596 5 1 198.7 8.9 169.7

Holy CRAP that's a lot of passes. One more game than the Griz, but over twice as many passes....how many do Griz backups have? I'm assuming White and Kriesien have played the vast majority of the snaps in their games?

We're averaging 244 yards a game passing and 248 yards a game rushing. I would guess PSU and NAU are pass first. We've played all 4 QB's. Cole's total minutes probably equal about two games. Larson has had about a half and Selle has had a little less than a half. I think I've seen Stapp in a couple series.
