...we play baseball in the Midwest. Indians clinch a playoff berth today, winning the AL Central crown.

Also, the AL Cy Young winner will be CC Sabathia. If it isn't him, it will be a crime.

Im sorry but CC Sabathia's stats doesnt shout out GUARANTEED winner for the Cy Young

Wins:
Beckett 20 (1st in AL)
Sabathia 18 (T2)

ERA:
Beckett 3.14 (4th)
Sabathia 3.19 (6th)

WHIP:
Beckett 1.13 (4th
Sabathia 1.14 (6th)

K's:
Beckett 188 (7th)
Sabathia 205 (4th)

(Sabathia has 4 more starts and 40 innings more then Beckett this season, so for this stat is might be more reasonable to look at K per 9 which Beckett has the advantage in)

Beckett 8.7
Sabathia 7.9

What reasoning do you have to say its a crime if Sabathia don't win... Cause I just proved it would be a crime if he won it over Beckett

Agreed, Sabathia's had a great season - if he wins the Cy Young it wouldn't be shocking. However, it's not like he's any better than Beckett that you can call Sabathia not winning it a crime. Could go either way.

If you look strictly at wins/losses, Cliff Lee of all people should have been a Cy Young contender in 2005. A few extra runs here or there can cover a bad performance, and your win totals get inflated. And, by all means, Cliff Lee is not a good pitcher.

I would take 40 quality innings over .05 runs a game, and I would venture a guess to say that every manager in baseball would as well.

BBs? Sabathia has 36 to Beckett's 40, despite pitching nearly 4.5 entire games more than Beckett.

WHIP compares favorably between both, I would give Sabathia the edge there based on the innings pitched Why not? It shows consistency.

OK, while it wouldn't be a crime if he didn't win it, I just think he should. They should however, give Jake Peavy the NL Cy Young, like, yesterday.

Besides... why not upset the coast dwellers?

Thats fine if the innings difference was because Beckett left games early, but its because he was out with a blister. If he dont miss those 4 starts beckett maybe sitting on 24-6 which would make it a slam dunk win for him..

Another thing.... how many of Sabathia's game came against playoff teams??? 3 all season!

Beckett 10. Becketts performance has come against a tougher competition.

That isn't fair to compare starts versus playoff teams, especially when the wildcard will come from your division. 20 games against the Yankees raises your number. Of course, numbers can be used to prove anything.
