How 'bout that Jerome Mathis kid from Hampton?

Returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for the Texans all the way to the house...just electrified Reliant Stadium. Probably has not sounded this loud since the Cowboys game to kick off 2002...

Let's go Texans!

Mathis is hurt again...

No surprise there...just so wound up. No telling if he'll play these next few games...

Just can't rely on him as much as you'd like...

They still are the favorite and on the road this week...

They seem to have the fight in them to keep going and if your a fantasy owner, Owen Daniels may be your man this week. This is the Atlanta Falcons, time to get a win...

More Texan wins, more chance I get to watch them here in NOLA. This is second Texans game in a row that will be televised. Already guaranteed two more (Saints vs Texans, Texans vs Broncos on NFL Network). Keep'em coming, Texans! Give the folks here in NOLA reason to have your game...

They are the favorite but any team missing that much offensive fire power is going to be at a disadvantage.

Come on Matt Schaub, show Atlanta what they're missing!

Atlanta did not have the offensive fire power to begin with...

Texans are very limited on the WR front. With Johnson, Jones and Mathis out...your looking at Anderson, Davis and Walter. Yikes! Texans are going to have to utilize their TEs...

Texans WRs
89 Anderson, David WR 5-10 194 Colorado State 2
11 Davis, André WR 6-1 195 Virginia Tech 6
80 Johnson, Andre WR 6-3 219 Miami (FL) 5
12 Jones, Jacoby * WR 6-2 210 Lane College 0
13 Mathis, Jerome WR 5-11 191 Hampton 3
83 Walter, Kevin WR 6-3 214 Eastern Michigan 5

Lets hope that Andre Davis can step up again like he did last week.

He's had all sorts of injury problems since making it to the NFL. He's just so wound up and there's no telling what's going to happen next as far as injuries go. He's probably one good injury from having his NFL career over.

Texans are in a rough position because when he is on the field, there's the chance he can score six each time he touches the ball. He's a game changer and can do so many things to put the Texans in the right place. If he could stay healthy, he may end up being one of the best kickoff return men in league history.

Mathis is inactive this week as thought...

Houston Texans
Inactives: WR Jacoby Jones, WR Jerome Mathis, RB Ahman Green, CB Fred Bennett, LB Zachary Diles, OT Rashad Butler, WR Andre Johnson, DE N.D. Kalu.

Texans are losing right now but haven't really played a bad game. Just have not been as explosive on offense as have have been in the previous three games.

Offense has actually been doing fine...

It's the defense. Last I checked, Joey Harrington was not an All-Pro quarterback by any means. What the heck is this?

Nice to see an FCS product Laurent Robinson though (Falcons WR)...

Ugh! Mathis can't stay on the field...why even bother!?!?

Texans' Mathis likely to miss rest of the season
By MEGAN MANFULL

The Texans finally have pinpointed what is wrong with Jerome Mathis' left leg, and it's enough to likely sideline him for the rest of the season.

After almost two days of testing, team doctors found a ''hot spot'' in the lower part of his leg, which is causing excruciating pain for Mathis during and after running. The Texans are expected to place Mathis, 24, on injured reserve and sign wide receiver Harry Williams off the practice squad for the game against Miami on Sunday at Reliant Stadium.

''He has a stress-related issue in his lower leg,'' coach Gary Kubiak said Friday. ''Our issue right now is trying to make a decision of how long it's going to be before he can get back on the field. As you all know, we have tough, tough situations going on at wide receiver with a couple of other guys out. So now this is three."

Mathis to IR...

Texans place receiver Mathis on injured reserve

By JOHN MCCLAIN

As expected, the Texans placed receiver Jerome Mathis on injured reserve Saturday and activated Harry Williams from the practice squad.

Mathis suffered a stress fracture of his lower leg against Indianapolis. He won't be eligible to return this season.

Williams signed with the Texans in the offseason and was with them until the second roster reduction. Then he was signed to the practice squad.
