I thought maybe some of you NDSU guys might be interested in this -
Members of the Spirit Lake Sioux tribe have voted to oppose the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname and logo

Pretty lame if you ask me. I would hope that a compromise could be worked out.....maybe take "Fighting" out of the name/logo.

I'm Irish and I take offense to Nortre Dame. HELLO NCAA!! I know this is gonna sound really bad, but do the Native American tribes not have anything better to do than bitch about a team named after them?? This is rediculous.

Maybe its not the "Sioux" they are fighting. Maybe it is still the idea that, when they became a state, the Anglos misspelled the word "Lakota".

Not sure how, or why, but something tells me some of Custer's kinfolk are behind this one.
Their favorite "son" got his ass kicked, and they are still looking for some payback.
