Can anyone recommend a good web site for UP-TO-DATE FCS scores? I have been trying to do it with selected FCS teams on My Yahoo! but as often as not they seem to stop reporting the games out here about halfway through the first quarter, and never update again through bedtime on Saturday.

For me, I've had success with Yahoo scores and cnnsi scores. I have links on www.godemons.com, I'm too lazy to look it up now. Also I have links to other scores including historical scores. Look on the left-hand side.

I use two because Sports Network has a snafu where FCS/FBS games are not always shown.

CSN has the scores posted after the game:

I've said it time and time again...

There are two, if not three score services that provide all the scores to these services. Hard to say who is up to date. Really depends on if...

a) a working line in the press box that the service has and calls atleast once every 10-15 minutes (typical calling time)
b) the school calls in after all scores and all quarters
c) the school does not tie up the phone line (major issue)

The sites like your Yahoo, ESPN or whomever do a great job updating their sites. It comes down to stat services...

The best place is right here at AGS in the "Score Thread" every game day

just be aware yahoo score reports are occasionally inaccurate - sometimes by a lot. Still, it's the easiest site to check scores and schedules at.

Don't blame Yahoo as they post what they are given -- blame the miscommunication between the boys in your school's press box and the stat service. Someone is bumbling it up somewhere along those lines...

Just call 1-800-555-8355 on your cell phone. It's "1800 tell me". I'm sure most have heard of the service, but figured I'd post it for those who haven't. Doesn't cost a dime, and is useful for MUCH more than sports scores... For college football scores the pattern of speech will be: "SPORTS"..."COLLEGE FOOTBALL"..."NORTHERN IOWA"... then they give you the score of the current game. Also works for movies, stock quotes, etc. Nice number to add to the old cell phone directory..xcoffeex

Unfortunately, they don't always have teams in FCS on their service and sometimes only have scores for some teams for the previous week. Sometimes you ask for a certain school and it gives you something else. But it is good if you are trying to keep up when you are traveling to games.

I used this site a number of years ago for stock quotes, etc. but forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder, this is a great service (for free).

I've never received a call from USA Today in my days working in FCS press boxes...they must have a good service that they work with...
