This is great news, and if something is approved I can't believe they expect it done for next seasons opener.

Board of Trustees Approves Feasibility Study to Explore Seating Expansion at KBS
by Appalachian Sports Information
September 21, 2007 - BOONE, N.C. *— Appalachian State University’s Board of Trustees approved a feasibility study on Friday to explore the possibility of expanding seating on the east side of Kidd Brewer Stadium for the 2008 football season.
The goal of the feasibility study is to provide the Board of Trustees a model for stadium expansion **— including design plans, timeline and financial model — at its December meeting, in hopes of having construction complete in time for the ‘08 home opener. In addition to several thousand new seats, the expansion would include restrooms, water fixtures and concessions to bring the 45-year-old stadium up to current code.
Appalachian leads the nation in home attendance this season at 27,953 fans per game (167.89 percent of KBS’s 16,650-seat capacity). The largest crowds in school history (28,802 on Sept. 8 vs. Lenoir-Rhyne and 27,104 on Sept. 15 vs. Northern Arizona) have turned out for the first two home games of the season and sell-out crowds are a certainty for each of the Mountaineers’ four remaining regular-season contests at The Rock.
