The NBA Bobcats, formerly at bobcatsbasketball.com, paid a Bobcat dealer in Stevensville, Montana $50,000 for the domain name bobcats.com

If you have a catchy domain name, hold on to it. That $30 investment could make you some money!
Why didn't the Bobcats just get charlottebobcats.com? Most pro teams have their city in their domain name.

Especially strange given that www.charlottebobcats.com is a really poorly done fan site. xeyebrowx
I remember this happening in 2004, when John Kerry's campaign had to buy the domain name KerryEdwards.com from a guy named, you guessed it, Kerry Edwards

I'm not really sure why they'd do this considering nbatarheelalumni.com is likely available for less.
