League proper begins today! xhypedx xhypedx
My vote for fixture of the week goes to either Schalke v. Valencia or Arsenal v. Sevilla.

My early pick to win it all is Barcelona, although trying to predict this competition is sort of like predicting an earthquake.

Actually, it's much easier when you remember that few of the non-Huge clubs even have a decent shot. ManU, Chelsea, Liverpool will all be in the hunt for England, AC Milan, Inter for Italy, Barca and Real from Spain. To be honest, I'll be shocked if the winner doesn't come from that group. If not, I'd be watching Valencia, Arsenal, Sevilla, Roma, and maybe Stuttgart.

Arsenal - Sevilla should be a good one, I'm excited for the Gunners' chances. Finish it this time!

I dunno, my vote for best match has to be FC Porto vs. Liverpool, simply because they both have very recent history in winning it all (Porto in '04 and LP in '05 as well as in the final in '07). xnodx

Quaresma at Porto is the ***** and is very underrated. ;)

Of course...we all know that PSV is going to win it all! xthumbsupx

I'd love to see that (given that Bayern isn't in it ;) ) Gotta love Dutch football! xnodx

Liverpool draws 1-1 after having 10 men for 30 minutes and playing like crap the first half. I'll take it.

Arsenal dispatches Sevilla 3-0 at Ashburton Grove. Fabregas, Van Persie and new man Eduardo da Silva picking up the goals.

You're not in the UEFA Cup anymore Sevilla xnodx (although I'd still bet they knock off Slavia and Steaua to advance)

Don't forget that Sevilla has to play Arsenal one more time, opening up the 2nd place in Group H (assuming Arsenal wins the group, which they should) for Sevilla/Slavia/Steauauauaua to beat up on each other. IMO, this is one of the easiest groups in which the traditional big-time clubs should easily advance.

Definately. Arsenal's gotten a bit lucky with their draws this year and last (Hamburg, CSKA, Porto), both where they were definately the top team. They'll have to avoid a hiccup on the road like they did last year at Moscow, but they seem to be in fine form at the moment. Top of the Premiership and 3-0 up in the Champions League.

I'd still be surprised if Sevilla isn't the team to advance with Arsenal in this group

Well he's Dutch, so that's a given :D

How about this for a Real lineup by the way:

Van Nistelrooy
Drenthe
Robben
Sneijder

:)

Furthermore I hope PSV kicks ass, they will probably advance to the knock-out stage and then lose in the quarters, like they usually do.

Frickin Liverpool has got to be the most schizophrenic team in the world when it comes to scoring goals. They're score 4 against Reading and then come back and score 1 goal over their next two games of Wigan and a French team. Get it together.

Arsenal 1-0 at Steaua yesterday xnodx

2-0 to start the campaign, and no goals conceded since Spurs in mid-September xnodx

Celtic stuns AC Milan 2-1 on a last minute goal. Always have liked when the Scottish teams can pull them out against the big boys (although Celtic and Rangers are no slouch, but sometimes they just don't get the credit.)

My Valencia team loses 2-1 against Chelsea at the Mestalla. Can't believe this. Valencia usually unbeatable at home gets beat twice by Chelsea in the past 6 months. I hate Chelsea!!

Lazio also ties Real Madrid. Interestingly enough, Lazio is 1-1-4 in the Italian Series right now. Can't say I saw that coming.
