I think they labeled themselves that this year. That's probably where that came from.

Peems
September 15th, 2007, 11:48 PM
I predicted PSU to win, but it would be nice to see Sac win.

Sac St. labeled themselves the best D? I'll repeat it "the PSU announcers said that the Sac St. D will be the best D that PSU sees.

I think they had the 3rd best Defense in the Big Sky last season and they return 10 starters on Defense. Not sure they are best though.

Peems

28-24 PSU.

I'd say the Griz and the Cats both have better defenses and I think NAU will have a decent one this year.

Brian White was impressive, but let's not get too excited, but I guess we can say

"Your Big Sky conference leaders...Portland State Vikings"

It is a win and we'll take it.....Our team still has a long way to go in learning a new system on both sides of the ball. We got a few breaks and the game could have gone either way....but 35-24 looks good.

Sac State might surprise some teams this year. Don't take them lightly

Ronbo

Bet UNC does.xlolx

in the game recap they say next to Montana, they think Sac State might have the best defense in the Conference. I won't go that far, but they look pretty good, especially that Weber kid, he sounds like he likes to hit hard.

I'd say that even EWU might have a better D than Sac St. I know for a FACT that MSU has a better defense than Sac St.

These guys who called the game must have taken lesson from the commentators who do the TV for the UM games.

xhomerx Spoken like a true Homerxdohx All I can say is that this could be a season of surprises on all levels. So don't get to comfortable resting on your laurels, that is when you get bit in the butt.

Come on didn't you guys just give up 319 yards and 22 first downs to Dixie State?xsmiley_wix You need to tighten up that pass defense, 269 yards. Fort Lewis OWNS Dixie State and we gave up only 136 total yards and 7 first downs to them. And that's playing all 73 players suited and all of the starters less than a half.xthumbsupx

You guys look like you might have a really good offense this year. That's where your strength will be.xnodx

Just got back from the game. Yeah, a win, and we can say for a week anyway, that we are leading the conference (next week we can say we are tied for the lead). But this was far from a good win. We gave Sac many opportunities via penalties and stupid mistakes to put us away, and good for us that they never did. White still had to run for his life many times, even with the adjustments the coaching staff made. If that keeps up, White will not last the season. The last two minutes were exciting, but more telling was the fact the "boo birds" came out halfway through the third quarter, and for good reason. Hard to say if Vikings football or Greg Oden was a bigger ploy for the Portland sports public to buy tickets this year.

A win, yes. But still a long way to go.

I am sure others might disagree with me, bit I think PSU has improved wirh every game. I know we still have a long season ahead of us with the inevitable ups and downs, but as long as they continue to improve things are looking up.

I know Montana and Montana are far from shaking in their boots, but eventually PSU will become a force to contend with in the Big Sky, but at least they are sportsmanlike enough to congratulate us on a win....for that I am grateful.:) xthumbsupx

Just messin' with him. MSU looks to have a nice potent offense. They are my solid top contender to the Griz with NAU just back of them. I moved MSU up 3 spots in my AGS ballot. EWU is looking tough too.xthumbsupx Portland State has stumbled early but I think by mid season they will be a tough game.

Sac State has a good team this year and will win some conference games, but recent success in the conference by the last regime makes it difficult for me to be giddy about a home win over the Hornets. To me, the run and shoot is still a work in progress, like the '57 T-Bird in the garage. Ocassionally, it will go, and when it does, its a thing of beauty. But most of the time, its stuck on blocks, needing some "fine tuning".
