I hope Navy beats Notre Dame this year. Is it me, or is Weis getting a much longer rope than Willingham did?
Speaking of Willingham: Wash 7 Ohio St 3 second quarter.

Yes, but Ty never got the massive contract from Notre Dame that Weis did. The Irish have tied themselves to Charlie for a few years. They may have money, but trying to terminate that contract will take quite a bit of cash.

Will they score a Touchdown this year? There offense is brutal to watch.

The difference was that Ty Willingham had three bad seasons (by ND standards), this is Weis's first bad season, he made BCS bowls the last two years, something Ty never did. If Weis has a bad year in 08, he's gone.

Willingham won 10 games his first year. Then it went down hill. Remember Weis is an offensive genius. xlolx

This isn't just bad. This is a disaster(so far). Did they really deserve a BCS Bowl last year, or did they get one BECAUSE they are Notre Dame?

How much of this can be attributed to Willingham's recruits?

About as much as the last two years, I'd guess. xconfusedx

Well Jimmy Clausen isn't his recruit. They have no running game(it's not Willingham's fault that Darius Walker got bad advice and left early). The Irish are bad and the last two years never deserved to go to a BCS bowl. This year we won't have to worry, the only thing to worry about is when will ND score an offensive TD? I say, looking at their schedule, they score a TD against Purdue, but lose 38-7. The game I will most interested in watching? Duke vs. ND? Pillow fight of the year xnodx

Please.
Wies has not done shat.
Those were Tye's players that went to the bowl games.
Now that Weis players have taken over, them sorry mofo's can't even take a snap from center.
N.D. is getting just what they deserve.
Hope they go 0-11.xlolx

You may get your wish. Clearly one of the worst ND clubs in the history of the program and the worst I have seen in my lifetime. I predict Navy will break their losing streak, among other things.

Weis' players are freshmen and sophomores - it's more than a little unrealistic to expect them to take over and beat teams like GT, PSU and UM, with little to no help or leadership from the upperclassmen (Ty's leftovers). It is NOT unrealistic to expect them to COMPETE, which is why Irish fans are pissed off at Charlie now. There's no excuse for the O-line looking like the worst in the history of college football.

Isn't this Weis' THIRD class? So his players make up the majority of the team.
So you are saying that Weis could win some games with Ty's players, but not his own?

Weis was busy coaching the Patriots to the Super Bowl in '05 so he couldn't pick up for Ty's sorry recruiting (6 verbals I believe when he got fired). Two classes are Weis'.
Ty won with Davie's players and couldn't win with his own. This double standard is ridiculous - were all of you singing Davie's praises when Ty was bumbling with his own players? No of course not. PC Police run amok. Unfortunately for ND you need to take the bad with the good and every uninformed fan has an opinion. I hope you all jump on UCLA when they fire Dorrell.

Weis might be a great recruiter because of his background but i'm not sure how great of a coach he is. New England has not missed a beat since he left there which leads me to believe he was truly just a small part of the puzzle. My biggest complaint lies in the fact no one has gotten better since he arrived. ND was no better, in fact worse last year than they were in '05 which no one really paid much attention too. Everyone is saying it has to do with the recruits and that is true to some extent. However, we are talking "weak" a class(es) in relative terms. The worst one was still a top 40 class which would still put in the top 1/2 of every BCS conference. That level of talent should not be getting killed like they are. There is some other fundamental problem.

Whether you want to call the Junior's Weis' or not is up to you Golden Homers - but ND put themselves in that recruiting bind by delaying hiring a coach so they could get the "Offensive Genius" - someone who has turned in the worst offensive performances in ND history.
IF Weis' recruits are so good, regardless of whether or not they are frosh and sophomores, they should have been able to score at least a touchdown by now....

What difference does it make who coaches ND, they haven't won anything since the late '80s early 90s. If it makes you guys feel better just blame Willingham for the whole season. xlolx Just make sure Weis doesn't trun into Zooker 2.0. xlolx
As for Dorrell, that's on UCLA I guess they're just happy to go the Emerald Bowl and get embarressed by a bad FSU team.

I can't believe I'm arguing this with you people. CHARLIE WEIS WAS COACHING FOR THE PATRIOTS IN THE SUPER BOWL IN '05. He couldn't exactly hit the recruiting trail before signing day, which was before the Super Bowl. He worked the phones, but there's only so much you can do. We were stuck with what we got from that class, which is 7 players today I believe. That's the junior class. The whole thing

For the record, there are 6 players left from Ty's second class - the current senior class. The whole thing.

Which probably isn't too unusual for a controversial firing - many players don't stick around after that, regardless of the school.

Ty effectively put ND on probation. He never filled his classes and guys he signed left for various reasons. We had something like 70 scholarship players in '05. It's hard to recover from that

Just a note, I tailgated at the Michigan-ND beside a few Griz fans. They were on a road trip traveling all over the country attending games the past 2 weeks. Pretty rowdy crew, they were openly rooting for ND until they wanted to have some of my Cap'n Morgan, then they were for Michigan
These are pics taken by the M university photo crew of them
