Since it seems that our Red Sox friends, who were out in full force earlier tonight, have abandoned us for some reason, let's enjoy another highlight from the video archives as Chris Chambliss goes deep to win the 1976 AL pennant:

To a worthy opponent in those memorable ALCS of the late 1970s, and of course the 1980 American League Champions and the 1985 World Champions.

For BearsCountry, a happier moment earlier in the game as an All-Time Great rises to the moment:

Watching Chambliss round the bases is priceless. He mows over at least 5 people and he looks like a man running from a zombie apocalypse! All these people just keep crowding him and he's just running for the hills!!! xlolx

The pine tar homer was great too. It was off of Gossage and just creamed. And, of course, the aftermath was the real fun.

Yea, but they don't show that game on Yankees Classics for some reason. :)

BTW, the commentary on the Brett homer by Reggie Jackson, Howard Cosell, and Keith Jackson is superb -- from Reggie observing that Brett told him that he doesn't try for homers unless the situation called for a homer, from Cosell saying that this is certainly one of those situations, and then Jackson's play-by-play call showing why is he's one of the best play-by-play guys ever.

Great stuff, JoltinJoe. Even though I'm a Mets fan, those Yankee clubs were outstanding and the Yankee-Royal playoff series were always terrific, riveting baseball.
