So how is the FCS attendance shaping up?

App had a new record of 28,800 for the first home game. It was great (since I had a seat and didnt have to stand).

18,823 at the Fabulous FargoDome last night versus SFA. 2nd straight sellout for us. Record crowd for a home opener.

Next week however, I don't think that'll sell out. I'll just be happy to see over 16,000. Hopefully a lot of fans will come out to see Bomar.

We had 12,300 yesterday for a DII. It's down from last week's 14,900 but still above capacity.

GSU had around 22,000 in Paulson yesterday. It was the first game of the season but against a DII team.

SHSU had about 8,000. Last week the heat and humidity were downright terrible. The humidity MELTED my paint off by half-time. This week I didn't think it was as bad, but it did probably discourage attendence by Huntsville Residents. Student Section was about the same as last week I think. Playing a D2 school that we always beat pretty badly didn't really help much ethier.

The AD and the school didn't push the attendence as much this week. We'll probably do a bigger push for Oct 6th when we have our conference opener.

We had 15k+ for our DII home opener. Best opener in 10 years I would bet. Oct 13th vs SIU for homecoming will be sold out if we come home undefeated.

App State has now "sold out" for all upcoming home games except UTC (imagine that) and Western Carolina (that will happen). So it looks like 28,000-30,000 for all home games. I havent figured out how it is decided when to stop selling end zone grass bowl tickets. www.goasu.com

The Southern Heritage Classic is backed by the CITY OF MEMPHIS.
They literally open the city up to both schools in the same manner that a city would open it's arms up to a Texas or a USC.

The year that the contract was up, Mid '90's, the game was moved to CHICAGO's Soilder Field and the fan numbers were the same.
The next year, Memphis went all out to never loose this game again.
They showed us the money AGAIN. xlolx
It's about money and the SHC Gurantee's a high 6 figure payday for both schools.

As for how many watching.................I WOULD SAY ALL BASED ON THE CUSSIN'--JSU/ Cheering--TSU DONE WHEN THAT FIELD GOAL WENT THROUGH FOR TENN. ST.xlolx

The city of Jackson has done the same thing with the season ending rivalry between JSU -vs- ALCORN with the Capitol City Classic.

The City of Jackson, Southwest Airlines, and FedEX sponser this 3 day event at Memorial every year.
They block off the downtown area on Friday at High noon and both bands and fan following's have the Classic Pep Rally down there.
People packed on the grass, street, parking garages and highrises acting a fool.xlolx

Even though it's JSU's home field, the home team is rotated on a yearly basis so the JSU Football team actually uses the VISITORS locker room while ALCORN , WHICH IS EVERYTHING UNHOLY TO JSU, uses our home locker rooms every 2nd year. xlolx

Nothing like having a week of activities during rival week.

The only question is now that Memorial has officially been turned over to JSU, will Alcorn keep comming here or will they do like Valley did in 2002 and take their game back to campus raising ticket prices after playing in Jackson since 1978. xlolx

Valley's game ticket's at their stadium are $12 for everyone except JSU.
When we go to Valley, those ticket's are raised $25.
They list this in their pre-season ticket sales.

The city of Jackson has done the same thing with the season ending rivalry between JSU -vs- ALCORN with the Capitol City Classic.

The City of Jackson, Southwest Airlines, and FedEX sponser this 3 day event at Memorial every year.
They block off the downtown area on Friday at High noon and both bands and fan following's have the Classic Pep Rally down there.
People packed on the grass, street, parking garages and highrises acting a fool.xlolx

Even though it's JSU's home field, the home team is rotated on a yearly basis so the JSU Football team actually uses the VISITORS locker room while ALCORN , WHICH IS EVERYTHING UNHOLY TO JSU, uses our home locker rooms every 2nd year. xlolx

Nothing like having a week of activities during rival week.

The only question is now that Memorial has officially been turned over to JSU, will Alcorn keep comming here or will they do like Valley did in 2002 and take their game back to campus raising ticket prices after playing in Jackson since 1978. xlolx

Valley's game ticket's at their stadium are $12 for everyone except JSU.
When we go to Valley, those ticket's are raised $25.
They list this in their pre-season ticket sales.
To me this makes more sense. Have the festivities in your hometown. Of course Jackson is a reasonably big city so it's got a lot to offer as far as events outside the game. You don't have to pay rent for the stadium so I'd guess more $$$ comes to your pockets. Plus your hometown gets the revenue from the folks coming in for the fun. xthumbsupx

I know the neutral sites=money but why wouldn't home and homes = more money? Too much cost for upgrading the home stadiums or is it that the neutral sites are more of a destination for the fans to find lots to do?
I'll speak for SU/MVSU, Valley's stadium only holds 10,000 and they've played in Chicago last year so I guess they wanted to go back. Also neutral sites give fans the opportunity to see their team that they would otherwise have. Also it exposes the community to HBCUs and games like the Circle City Classic in Inidanapolis does this by rotating teams and the community gets involved.

#2. If you look at the cities that they pick, you will see that there are huge fan bases in these Classic Cities for the teams involved.
