We want to hear more about yesterday. When was the last time you guys beat one of the other I-A Iowa schools? Were the people in Ames yesterday really in that much shock, pissed, or was it a nonchalant little thing to them..

I ask because I know you guys have been looking forward to this and it's a big win, let's hear some details/ see some pics!

I'll let someone else discuss the atmophere in Ames as I wasn't there, but we have not beat Iowa State since 1994 (we got 'em in 1992 as well). Ames is only an hour and a half from Cedar Falls so I'm sure the town was painted purple last night.

ISU fans knew this was a rebuilding year with a new coach....but the loss last week to Kent State didn't get their expectations too high for our game. It's going to be a long Fall in Ames as Nebraska, Texas and Oklahoma (among many other good teams) loom large on the horizon.

With Ames being that close is there no chance of getting them into the Dome? I know that's rare but the Griz were able to lure Idaho over the Logan Pass into Missoula a few times.

They set another attendance record last night (beating out last year's UNI/ISU game) with about 56,000, so I doubt I doubt our puny 16,200 seat Dome would suffice.

I was there in Ames last night. The Panther presence was OUTSTANDING. I would guess UNI had around 5,000 fans over on the southwest corner of the stadium (3,000 in the stands and another 2,000 on that PACKED SW Hill).

The atmosphere was great though. The fans were loud, loyal, and going crazy. The U-N-I chant was going often, and we sang "UNI Fight" loud.

The Iowa State fans there were really nice too. Everyone knew going into Jack Trice Stadium that it would be a good game. After last year's one point loss, Cyclone fans knew what they were in for. And I thought they handled the loss well. As far as the game ever being in the dome. No way. They set another attendance record last night (like 56,700) so this game at least makes them money, haha.

The last time we beat Iowa State was 1994 and I believe the last time we beat Iowa was 1900. Beating the Hawkeyes, sadly, is still a long time away...

And here are a couple pictures (notice the random Cyclone fan amongst the purple, he looks a tad upset)

No chance when attendance records are set at Jack Trice for the last 2 years. Over 56K last night.

ISU is in a major overhaul right now with a new coaching staff so their fans aren't expecting much especially after they lost to Kent State.

The atmosphere was electric and ISU fans and UNI fans usually get along well. Mostly because they all know each other and ISU fans are pretty civil.

I agree with what crunifan said. The atmosphere was good. Cyclone fans aren't asses like many Iowa Hawkeye fans. In addition to the packed visitor section there was a lot of purple scattered in amongst the Cyclone faithful. My wife and I went with my brother and his wife who are Cyclone season ticket holders. Some good natured ribbing from some Clones when we sat down but nothing bad. We also tailgated with a a bunch of Cyclone people. There were Panthers mixed in with Cyclone tailgaters all over.

I think most Cyclone fans were expecting a loss on Saturday but were hoping it would be closer than what it was. It's going to be a long year for them.
