Two games.. two embarrassing loses.. zero offensive TDs.. QB sacked 17 times and a combined grand total of MINUS 8 yrds of rushing offense. And weren't we all told.. MANY times.. that Charlie Weis was an offensive genius???

:p

It's hard to be an offensive genius when it's not given to you on a silver platter in the form of great players.*

* - this applies to Weis, no one else.

Clausen is going to very good. He hung in there all night and took some shots from a very a good Penn St. D. His offensive line is horrible and for the most part his skill guys are all inexperienced. Notre Dame is not going to have a good record this year but i think as the year goes on they'll get better. THe recruiting classes will start to take hold and those guys will be better prepared for next year.

As a Notre Dame fan, I expected this year to be tough. I do expect Clausen to be a good QB, and hope we make a turnaround next year.

It's his job to go out and get good players. This is his third year at Notre Dame, and he should have gone out and recruited. He has one of, if not the most prestigious program, so it should be easier to get them.

Exactly, he should have some talented freshman and soph this years as they were his recruiting classes. Where are they?

They are starting all over the field. ND's 7 points came thanks to sophomore Darrin Walls. Clausen looked great for his first start - he should have been throwing down the field from the get go

They have not scored an offensive touchdown in two games, and have 0 total rushing yards in those games. We all know Weiss is a great coach, so that to me indicates a severe lack of talent.

The thing about ND is that they have no real defense, and haven't for a few years now. Weis has some offensive weapons there, he just needs to cultivate them a bit. But recruit some friggin' LB's and DB's wouldya please? I doubt I'll watch another ND game this year after the past two.xnonono2x

The defense is fine this year - the offense is the problem. And he is recruiting defensive players - the reason the current recruiting class is ranked #1 is it's loaded with defensive players after 2 years of offensive-dominated classes

Notre Dame's problems pretty much begin and end with the woeful play of their offensive line. Normally a ND strength.. the OL has been god awful in their first two games.. no running game and less pass protection. ND's offense has no chance for improvement until the OL gets it's act together.

Thank you. Why are people making excuses for him? The same talking heads making excuses for him are the same ones that were calling for Tyrone Willingham's head during his third year.

Another thing, why is everyone so big on Jimmy Clausen and saying he'll be good? Everybody should be rooting against this a-hole!
Remember how he announced his decision to go to ND? He showed up in a limo during the College HoF ceremonies in South Bend and called a press conference. Oh, and he was still in 11th grade at the time too!
I hope this douche-bag pulls a Dan Kendra.

Clausen reminds me of Powlus........xbawlingx

Please dont compare the two.

Clausen= overhyped soft Cali golden boy who put himself out in the spotlight a ton trying to get noticed.

Powlus= Good, tough, PA coal region boy who didnt really want the hype and spotlight. Beno and his 3 heisman comment started the hype machine. Ron had an Ok career but injuries prevented him form even coming close to the hype. Ron would have never pulled a stunk like Clausen did at the HOF, I think Ron announced his college choice sitting in his living room wearing a sweatshirt.

You can hate Clausen all you want, but he looked damn good for a true freshman starting in front of 110,000 nutso fans. He is the real deal

Actually he should be good, you are correct. But its way to early to tell if he is the next Peyton Manning or the next Eli Manning.

I'm calling shanannigans on that comparison. This is college football we're talking about. Eli was a damn good college QB, just like his father. And, just like his father, he's a mediocre (on good days) NFL QB who's also overrated.

I was going for NFL success. Clausen will probaly be a good college QB, and be talked about a ton since he is at ND. He may even be a high draft pick, but NFL success really determines the G.O.A.T types which many are saying Clausen may be.
