This is it for all the marbles! The Bison are looking for their 9th national title in the last 11 years and Bobcats are looking for their first in 37 years. It'll be a long 3 week wait. Kickoff is on Saturday 1/8 at 11AM CT and the game will be televised on ESPN2.

Montana State's on a helluva roll right now. Their defense is excellent! They definitely have the players on that side of the ball to contain NDSU.

I just don't see how the Bobcat offense as presently constructed does enough to beat NDSU. The Bison are not going to lose a game because the QB ran around and hit on 50/50 balls. Montana State will have to become a little more diverse in order to have a chance...

First thought is NDSU 27-13

We'll need this three weeks to get healthy. With Watson back, I think we roll to yet another trophy hoisting ceremony. We will NEED a passing game to beat MSU. Their D line are savages.

NDSU’s offense is ok, can be sharp at times but gets clunky for long stretches. Mont St O is rolling on long balls and QB runs. It’s kinda crazy how well it’s worked in the playoffs

I agree that 50/50 balls and QB running is not going to beat NDSU.

This is a good matchup for NDSU IMO. Looking forward to a good game.

Will be interesting to see what the crowd mix is... I think NDSU fans could be outnumbered in Frisco for the first time since their first natty game against SHSU. I don't think Bison fans bought up tickets in droves in August at the same rate we have in the past. I'm sure both schools will have more than enough demand for their allotments but I'd expect a good showing in the sections outside the allotments from Montana State.

On another note someone on Bisonville last week mentioned that it will be a Southland Conference officiating crew in this game.

NDSU just held JMU to their lowest yards output and points output for the season, I think they will have a good gameplan for a running QB and 50/50 balls.....xnodx

Yeah, looks that way. Although it also could've been Montana St/SDSU fans as well thinking that if their team doesn't make it they should be able to sell them to Bison fans. I get the feeling Bobcat fans will be more enthusiastic about tickets on the secondary market than Bison fans will be. Maybe NDSU still pulls the slight majority but I think it would be 60/40 at most.

MSU was without their most prolific weapon today, Isaiah Ifanse. He should be good for the chipper, so I don't expect the game plan to be "throwing up a bunch of 50/50 balls and Tommy running around."

You're right, but the MSU defense did pitch a shutout in the second half, and held SDSU well below their ppg average.

It's a freaking message board cupcake.

Everyone will have an opinion on this game. And to tell you the truth, ming01 has a very good point. This is a great matchup for the Bison. Bison can stop the run and pound the running game. We'll see how MSU defends the Bison and vice versa.

Your QB was the whole offense yesterday. I don't think 1 player is single handedly beating this Bison team.

2 very good defenses in this title game:

Total Defense:

NDSU #3
MSU #13

Scoring Defense:

NDSU #1
MSU #2

Rushing Defense:

NDSU #3
MSU #13

Passing Defense:

NDSU #11
MSU #21

3rd down defense:

NDSU #2
MSU #26

Formula for a low scoring game. Now watch it be something in the 30s or 40s.....

I thought at the time, losing the brawl wasn’t the worst thing in the world for the Cats. Bizon should be favored by a TD or more, but great defense, a solid running game, and a hot QB are recipes for championships. The Cats have a shot at this.

All 4 of the semi final teams played great defense. Defense wins titles, not gimmick offenses. MSU can win this game. Both teams are very good against the run and it will be fun to watch them scheme to try and get the edge in the running game.

Both teams are very similar to each other and have pretty much the same philosophy: run the ball and stop the run. Lean on the opposing defense with a commitment to the run and make life miserable for the opposing QB if they get one dimensional with a great d-line. It will basically come down to which team can impose their will better and stick to that philosophy.

I'm interested to see if the Bison defense gets aggressive in this game. I thought SDSU would get aggressive with blitzes and I didn't really see it. The Mellott led Bobcat offense looks a lot like the Quincy Patterson led Bison offense with a heavy reliance on the QB run and long developing pass plays. Against the Bison opposing defenses eventually figured out you could blitz that offense to death by forcing them to throw short/hot routes (which Quincy was not good at) and leave the QB no running lanes.

I'm also going to guess this is Montana State's earliest kickoff in a long time and maybe ever. Not sure it'll make a big difference though, I thought EWU might have issues with that in the 2018 natty and they seemed to handle it just fine coming from PT where kickoff was 9AM local time for them.

Added the teams stats breakdown in the first post. NDSU has the advantage in most statistical categories but one area where Montana St is better is in turnovers; they've taken it away more and given it away less so that could tip (or balance) the scale in their favor. Redzone efficiency will also be a key. Both defenses are very good in the redzone but both offenses are kind of mediocre (at least at converting redzone trips into TDs).

Agreed. SHSU won that game because they were flat out better. If that game was in Fargo SHSU would have still won. NDSU was fortunate to keep it close with 2 huge special teams TD's.

In terms of the NDSU vs JMU game NDSU was better on that night and that is all that matters.

Our road record is almost as good as our home record. That has been discussed over and over again on here. The noise in the JMU game barely got over 100 decibels it is awesome that you all can use that excuse to cover up the “gaps” in your teams

Agreed. NDSU should have been up 17-0 at the end of the 1st half had it not been for terrible play calling on 1st and goal from the 2.

That is a big difference.

Cole Johnson had only 1 interception all year (with 1 being through his relievers hands). NDSU got 2 and could have had more had Talbert got one in the 3rd quarter. Weber also had a bead on 1 a little before that.

Ya, big boondoggle in clock management and play calling by the staff right before halftime. Should have had a TD.

I'm curious how NDSU is going to defend Mellott. NDSU's mainstay is the Tampa-2 with 2 high safeties and secondary in zone. Probably will be nothing extraordinary from the Bison. If DL can pressure with just 4 then the LBs are free to cover and defend against Mellott running. They might have the SS (Tutsie) move into the box and "spy" Mellott if he starts getting yards.

And the same with Montana State and how they are going to defend NDSU's power run game. Most teams do not run A gap power...or almost none do anymore. If NDSU's QB Miller can move the sticks passing, the Bison are going to be hard to beat.

MSU wins due to having 3 Hollywood movie storylines. First, you have a starting QB quit on his team just before the playoffs start, only to watch them win it all without him. Next, you have the home grown hero from Butte, America leading the team to its first championship since 1984. Lastly, MSU will have knocked off the 3 teams that have knocked them out of the playoffs since 2010 (NDSU in 2010, 2018 and 2019; SHSU in 2011 and 2012; SDSU in 2014). It's like a movie script.

And if his receivers can cure their dropsies... Miller continues to make great throws but his receivers have been letting him down. Quincy Patterson dropped a sure fire TD and it was either Raja Nelson or Braylon Henderson that dropped what would've been a huge 3rd and 12 conversion in the 2nd half when JMU was making their run. There were numerous drops on well placed throws by Miller in the quarterfinals as well.

Both offenses should be better versions of themselves than they were in the semis by the time this game rolls around assuming the Bison get Christian Watson back and Montana St gets Isaiah Ifanse back.

Even with Watson the Bison WR corp is mediocre at best. Watson, when healthy and has his head in the game, is a game changer. All the other WRs are inconsistent at best. TEs are better WRs than the WRs....

Watson might be a NFL talent but IMO, he never makes it in the NFL.

I'd think so just because Montana State's defense is potentially good enough to stymie the Bison run game if they don't have to worry about the pass. Watson practically demands double coverage. Montana St's staff need only look at the 2019 semifinal to see what a game changer he is: https://youtu.be/oBJDlNsald0?t=45

Not trying to knock on Watson but Ifanse was the third leading rusher in FCS this year.
They're both elite. HERO Sports named Watson a first team All-American and that's not something that's easy to do for a WR in this NDSU offense (110th in the nation in passing yards per game). Good chance he's one of the top 5 FCS players drafted next spring.

Montana State has the best defensive backfield in all of FCS and even with Watson playing could very well shut down our WR's like JMU did in 2016. The Bison are going to have to be pretty creative in the passing game, using the TE's and Luepke a bunch. Luckily they showed this last game they're willing to do that.

They shut down an elite passing offense in EWU, Barriere had barely over 200 yards IIRC. I wouldn’t base my opinion off the Jacks game, they were focusing more on the run in that game. I think they are susceptible to TE’s and RB’s catching the ball which was a lot of the success that SDSU had. I just don’t think our WR’s will have much success in this game, Watson included. Cam isn’t the thrower Oladokun is either which is another reason why I think that.

He is really good, but it helps he's played two pass defenses that weren't very good and played schemes that were tailor made for him. He could just keep throwing the fades and back shoulder throws against SHSU & SDSU and let his receivers make plays against DB's who sucked at playing the ball.

I wouldn't expect that to work against NDSU's base 2 deep zone. Vigen knows that too, and I'm sure he'll find some creative ways to get some big play opportunities in the passing game. He is such a good runner though and he's only a freshman. Scary to think what he'll be in 2-3 years.

Saw the 9.5 and that it was the o/u. :)

The two best scoring defenses in the nation meeting in the championship? That is just as it should be.

Ifanse coming back would be huge for Montana State... a lot of times Big Sky teams have these spread offense RBs who go down on contact that wouldn't even slow down the best MVFC backs. Ifanse is more like an MVFC back. Having him back gives MSU's offense a much better chance of running wild.

On the flip side, if NDSU gets a healthy Watson back, that gives Montana's defense another 20 yards of vertical space to cover - which opens up the middle for TEs, the sidelines for wheel routes, and the flat for RBs. I mean, sure, Sproles had a chance for a huge catch against JMU if not for the (uncalled) PI, but with Watson, it's sometimes tough for DBs to get close enough to grab the back of his jersey and hold on.

They're now a bit better at home than on the road since 2011. Going a pedestrian 6-3 on the road between this spring and this fall doubled their road losses since 2011. Still the dominance extends to the road:

Agreed, the way they shut down SDSU's run game, and Isaiah Davis in particular, was impressive. I'd say SDSU o-line starts getting very average when you make them have to pass block, which isn't easy to do but MSU defense did it. If there's one thing I know about NDSU OC Tyler Roehl it's that he won't abandon the run game but if the Bison defense gives up 31 points like the Jacks did it's going to be tough for them to win.

Not sure if this is being considered, but those were road playoff games, because the team was not as good in those instances. Just sayin'.

So is it really home field, or is it that those teams were simply good enough to be rewarded with playing at home?

I think it is not so much with making the Bison play on the road as it is them being down enough to have to play on the road. Same with Sam Houston...dominant at home in the playoffs, but those teams were really good, and even the ones that were down a bit won their early round games at home.

You are right though, 1-2 is something to work on. I think they worked on it by simply being better and having home games throughout. ;)

I think they worked on it by simply being better and having home games throughout. ;)

EDIT: Sorry Amster, just saw your post, and you beat me to it.

It isn't honesty. It's institutional arrogance.

Maybe MSU's defense looked good because SDSU's offensive coordinator was dreaming of his new job announced after they lost?

Based on what criteria?

They are #14 in pass efficiency defense, #21 in passing yards allowed and #26 in 3rd down defense. NDSU is ranked higher in every category.

What I saw them do against EWU earlier in the year. The last two games look bad but they played balanced offenses and they sacrificed their pass D a little to stop the run. They gave up more passing yards but they still made SHSU & SDSU pay to do it, getting 4 INT's against 3 TD's. They're pretty opportunistic too, ranked #4 in the country with 18 INT's on the year. Even if I did jump the gun calling them the best DB's in the FCS, they are still very, very good. Good enough that I wouldn't be surprised if they are able to shut down our WR's like JMU did in 2016. As I replied to POD that is both the fact that Cam isn't the thrower that Oladokun & Schmid are, coupled with our WR's as a whole not being as good as SDSU's & SHSU's.

If Montana State is able to stop North Dakota State's run game, they definitely have a shot. I was shocked at just how badly they beat Sam Houston on both sides of the line of scrimmage. It was eye opening. I'm still not convinced Cam Miller can win the game if North Dakota State's run game is slowed down.

xshhhx The Bizzuns are the best and no one has a chance to stop them from bringing another trophy back to the frozen tundra. After they dispatch us by 70, they're going to petition the NCAA to challenge the winner of the CFP. Once they thrash the FBS foe there, it's on to whooping up on the winner of Super Bowl LVI. We probably shouldn't even play the game in Frisco out of fear of life changing injuries for any Bobcat that takes the field.

You make some very fair points but the only thing I was trying to establish was what the away record was in FCS playoff games.

I recognize really how amazing it is that you’ve only played three away games during this 11 or 12 year era of Bison

IMO, if Montana State sits back in their base defense, NDSU is going to run over them. I suspect they will run blitz like most teams do to try and stop the run on obvious run downs/situations. Every game I've been to this year and most games every year, teams do a lot of run blitzing on the Bison to try and slow them down.

Like I've mentioned before, I'm excited with this matchup because it is a great matchup for the Bison. Bison go over that mark in this game.

NDSU accepted requests for tickets in their allotment through 4PM CT yesterday. Tickets are "awarded" based on donor priority points and notifications will be sent out to requestors on 12/28. NDSU has never not used up their allotment and usually demand for those tickets far outpace supply. I suspect demand for Frisco tickets amongst the NDSU faithful will be down this year compared to past years but there will still be more than enough requests to use up the allotment.

Also, many Bison fans (although not as many as it used to be) buy tickets for Frisco well in advance some as early as late August.

Ironic thing is Darby, MT where the real Chief Joseph Ranch is at that they use as the Yellowstone in the show is much closer to Missoula than Bozeman. I do believe that NDSU will be the national champion again. MSU's defense is really, really good. And Mellot looks to be a productive quarterback. However the last two games, against SHSU and SDSU Mellot was able too and did take advantage of two teams with below average defensive backfields. This led to a number of big plays and allowed the running game to have some room to run. Statistics show that NDSU's defensive secondary is better and I think this will be the difference. However, it should be a good game.

Wow, what a thread to digest; everything from Mud slinging statements to Costa Rica retirement plans...must be a Bison vs another good team thread. xthumbsupx Judging by the Numbers Chaos was so kind to provide us in the first post, on paper this will be a very close and hard fought game. I was privileged to both watch the Bison and Montana St semi games, thank you MIDCO...sorry for your Disney+ users. The Cats were able to slow down Isiah but Pierre seemed to do okay for SDSU against the M-State D. Lots of miss reads by the Oladokan in the passing game. M-State QB is a handful and SDSU never adjusted to M-States schemes. M-State throws those 50/50 balls against DB's who look back and its going to be a day of INT's.
JMU schemed to stop T Williams for the Bison from running, and NDSU WR may block well but they are dropping balls they should catch. JMU had no clue who #44 was but they learned the hard way. Luepke is another Tyler Rohl; big bruising Fullback, turned Tailback with speed and hands.
I foresee this game being hard and bruising. Both team Coach's have the same philosophy, Tuff Defense, run the ball, and throw when necessary. Difference in this game...Frisco. Bison been there done that and know how to block out the distractions. Can Vigen do that with this team? Tommy TD said he would prepare for this game like any other. I say please do. Bison 24 and Montana St 10. Depth of the bench and the crowd will be the difference for the Bison.

I did alright. xwhistlex Got burned out working for a public accounting firm so went to work with my hands. When drilling flamed out in 2015, back to bean counting. The little miss is a CPA also, and we're DINKs (dual income, no kids) so I'm pushing hard to be retired at 55 in Costa Rica. xshakefistx
We are dinks as well and retired but would not leave MT!

Strong got 44 yards from 1 play and had 50 yards on 13 carries otherwise (3.85 ypc which isn't bad, but not great). Obviously, it did happen but if Webb takes a better angle, it's a 5 yard gain.

Mellott has more to his arm than 50-50 balls. Some of those passes were darts. I don't know how much he got to throw to the receivers during the regular season with McKay as the starter and Rovig as the backup, but he'll get 3 more weeks to get on the same page with the receivers, so he may surprise. He went from 8 of 20 for 51 yards (albeit in terrible conditions for the passing game, 35 mph winds) to 6/11 for 165 and 2 TD vs Sam to 10/15 for 233 yards and 2 TD. I expect him to continue to improve, obviously offset by playing a better defense.

From what I've heard, Oladokun is better than NDSU's QB(s), so if we can stymie the run (no easy task, I know), I like our chances.

I wouldn't count on NDSU having a huge advantage in the crowd. I think it was Professor Chaos that predicted a 60-40 split favoring the Bison and I think that sounds pretty close.

On paper, it has the makings of a very physical game. Here's to both teams coming in healed up and everyone staying that way.

Cost of living in MT is higher, so I'd have to work longer. Game plan is to work til 55 and live as long as the money takes me. The day I'm down to $5, I'll buy one last beer and walk into the ocean. Bloop bloop bloop. I have no desire to live past 75 or so, and damn sure no desire to work away all my "good" years and retire for the years I don't even want.

I think it'll be 60/40 at most in favor of the Bison.... could be more like 50/50. Depends on how many Bison fans bought tickets early since I think that number was fewer this year than it had been in the past so there may or may not be a good mix of Bobcat fans in the "neutral" sections.

The fervor among the Bobcat fanbase is palpable given it's our first time playing for a title since 1984. I have no doubt we'd outnumber the Bison fans IF we had known we'd be in the chipper when the seats first went on sale. We'll be limited to how many we can get our hands on since so many Bison fans purchase them early on the expectation that they'll be playing in Frisco.

My Brother bought his early. I Bought mine after the Bison beat JMU, still close to face value. Figured Montana St win would raise the demand and price. I also put in for the season ticket ones for other family members that decided late.

Ironic thing is Darby, MT where the real Chief Joseph Ranch is at that they use as the Yellowstone in the show is much closer to Missoula than Bozeman. But I believe the show itself is supposed to be set in the Yellowstone River valley just north of the north entrance to the national park and just a bit SE of Bozeman.
I've tried to figure out where it's supposed to be set - I think I recall some dialog implying basically what you said - but they are extremely geography challenged. The ranch seems to jump around from one area to another depending on the scene/needs of the script. Want that character in a meeting in Helena next scene - it's only a 20 min drive. Need to go to the "train station"? It's only an hour or two to Wyoming. Ignoring the fact that there's no reservation anywhere close to Bozeman.

Like virtually everything else in the show, it's best to not try to think about the details too much and just enjoy the ride.

I've taken 1 charter and 1 flight down in all the games. I prefer to drive but I am use to it with what I do for a living.

NDSU will have a good turnout for this game, like they always do. I lean towards what PC said about the 60/40 split.

I got hung up on the details not at all matching reality in the episode or 2 I watched and couldn't get into it. Is it worth actually watching as someone very familiar with the area?

My wife and I started watching it since it's set in the Bozeman area, ranching, etc. (as noted by PC the ranch buildings are actually near Darby and probably only half of the Bozeman exterior shots are actually Bozeman, seems I heard some of it is filmed in Utah). It seemed like it would be something different than the standard cop show or doctor drama and we both grew up on ranches/farms. We kept watching a number of episodes in the hope it would get better (it was kinda fun to identify some familiar places in some of the scenes). We almost gave up on it a few times - some of the things are pretty preposterous, don't make sense why you'd do that, writers obviously haven't been around horses or cattle much, etc. We started enjoying it when we gave up on trying to view it as a realistic drama and started viewing it as an action show with bits of comic relief set on a ranch in Montana (comic relief like a bad movie - so dumb it's funny). Then you can enjoy the characters and the story. We actually enjoy it now.

It's hugely popular, so we're probably a distinct minority in how we derive our entertainment from it. But as I told my wife, if I was a guy that cooked meth in New Mexico, I might have felt the same way about Breaking Bad (I don't know anything about it so I don't have preconceived notions and don't know if something in the plot is preposterous). I recommend the show now (wouldn't have before we changed our attitude) but try not to think too much while watching it.

That's probably not far off (60/40). Almost half of the crowd is from the allotments (9,000 combined of 20,500 capacity) and should be even. 60/40 would mean roughly 2:1 with the rest of the tickets.

I didn't know the schools got that many tickets, thanks. Was thinking they'd get 2,500 each.

For those that have been.... any idea what the price range will be once things have settled down and the price-gouging scalpers are trying to unload in the last week or so?

A woman in my office told me how much she liked it, so I checked it out. Did not like it at first, had a hard time with Costner in the role. Got into it later, but cannot take too literally or seriously, just good vulgar, violent Sunday evening TV.

At the second natty against SHSU I lost my ticket in the tailgating lot. Walked up to the stadium and bought one for 10 and that place was packed. If I was planning to go down and didn’t have a ticket I would go anyway. There are always tickets floating around to get in.

I was lucky enough to head the warnings of others and pre-bought tickets the week before the semifinal game. I have been trying to talk my friends off the ledge from buying these over priced tickets and just waiting for lower prices ever since. I do hope that everyone that truly wants to go, goes and either lucks out prior to the game or at least at the stadium before kickoff. It's gonna be one fun ride no matter what.

Get everyone to go that you can, there’s so much going on that they should have a good time even if they don’t snag a ticket (and they should be able to snag one). Going out to the bars on Friday night, and/or Thursday night, tailgating in the morning before the game. Just remember that tailgating will start well before the posted start time.

For BBQ we always hit Hard Eight, for us it's easily the best we've had down there of the ones we've tried. And then we try to hit one or two new BBQ joints each time. Haven't had Pecan Lodge yet but really want to get there this year.

In the past we always gave both In N Out & Whataburger a try too. We really like In N Out but for some reason Whataburger doesn't do it for us (blasphemous I know) so I don't see us hitting that up this year.

We like wings places where you can choose from a large variety of sauces and there's one in Plano we like, Pluckers Wing Bar.

I've always wanted to try Pappadeaux but my sister-in-law doesn't do shellfish so I haven't made it there.

We've been to a few different Tex-Mex places but I can't remember which ones, my brother and his wife have a couple different friends down there and we've always gone there with them and I didn't pay enough attention. But they have all been really good.

Roehl is a better coach than many of my Bison fan brethren give him credit for. He's definitely an up-and-comer. Recruiting ties would be a big question mark though... he doesn't have any in SOCON country so he'd have to do a good job filling his staff with recruiters from that area of the country. Interesting that another candidate supposedly interviewed was former NFL head coach Jeff Fisher... talk about polar opposites when it comes to age and ties to the area.

I havent been to the Pecan Lodge. I have been to Hutchins. I thought it was real good but my wife thought the Brisket was too fatty but she would rather eat sawdust dry meat than meat with a little marbling so her opinion isn’t real good on this subject. I ate at the Hard 8 over in the Colony area. We stayed at the Holiday Inn over there. They have a jalapeño corn at the Hard 8 that is really good.

Let us know if you find a decent Mexican joint there. Ate at a couple Mexican places, can’t remember the names but one was just east of the interstate just south of Frisco and it was terrible.

We will have to give Hard Eight BBQ. We always go to Hutchins Saturday night after the game.

I also plan to try Pecan Lodge this year.

I've had Hutchins along with a few others, they're all good but don't stick out as great to me like Hard Eight does.

I think Bisonoline has mentioned Pecan Lodge before. We are going to try Pecan Lodge and Hard Eights this year. Then go to Hutchins Saturday after the game

My oldest son loves the chooped brisket from Hutchins but I prefer the moist brisket (nice and juicy).

I texted a friend that lives near Frisco about Mexican food. I will let you all know what he says.

Edit....he said Mexican Sugar is good in Plano.

We will make sure to try it this year. Thanks for the recommendation.

For those of you driving down is there anywhere cool you would receive to stop and see?

We are driving down and we are going to take our time to stop and see cool stuff.

We also plan to do a tour at AT&T and also go to the Fort Worth stockyards.

Go to Pitcher, OK on the way back. The countries largest EPA Superfund site. Had a couple friends of mine go through there on the way back home. Said it was eerie.

I really appreciate all the info being shared here, from ticket prices to restaurants to when to show up. Currently trying to arrange getting there Thursday but it's looking like it might be late Thursday (flight lands around 11pm). Unfortunately, it's my company's payroll week and being the first of the year, it takes a bit longer to make sure I have everyone's payroll deductions correct. Seems like only a handful are making any changes to this year's elections and the prices of most aren't changing, but still have to update the deductions for 50 employees, reconcile it, and hope I didn't fat finger anything to necessitate going thru each one a second (or third) time. If I can get everyone to turn in their timecards for the last week of 2021 to the payroll entry gal by Monday morning and she gets cracking, I may be able to have it done Wednesday. If the party starts Thursday.... that's where I need to be.

In and Out for sure. I'll be in the Dallas area for a couple months, so I'll get to try a few places.

Yeah I really like In N Out. I've given Whataburger quite a few tries and I don't get all the hype for it. It's good it's just nothing special.

I'd much rather have my coaches be under consideration over already hired. I imagine the focus is sharper in that the chipper could be looked at as a job interview/resume stuffer vs. the short-timers syndrome of someone who already has the next job locked down. That said... being professionals and it also being a championship, I don't know that it would have a lot of effect on your preparation. I think everyone in both programs is laser-focused on the task at hand.

I have a little college basketball/golf trip scheduled for the week of 1/2-1/9 but I'm not counting on any of the basketball games I was scheduled to attend happening. This will be a gamble for all those who are committed to attend the FCS Title game imo.

Thankfully, I don't see golf courses being shutdown so that will be my focus....

Did Texas shut down much for Covid.... EVER? Texas or Florida are probably 2 of the states I'm the LEAST worried about closing down to crowded events.

Texas A&M just pulled out of the Gator Bowl due to Covid...

The CFP instituted a "rule" stating a team will win the title via a forfeit if there's a Covid issue. When it comes to FCS the teams still have to follow certain protocols and the NCAA has their own policies relating to championship events. The game being played in Texas means nothing imo...

Just of note, one of the CFP Semifinals is the Cotton Bowl which is played in Texas....
