I'm listening online to the Hofstra radio network - sounds pretty good for a college station.
Penalties stall Hofstra's drive - pride settle for 3 - 6-3 Hofstra early

Does this push Hofstra into the Top 25? They're (1-0) and their defense was incredible tonight. One play where they almost sacked the QB went for a long gain in the first half, but other than that they really stepped up. If not for a FG attempt that hit the left post and another that was wide left, this could have been worse...

Gotta hand it to Hofstra, even when they went through that awful season last year they could still play defense. Great win for the Pride and a great win for the CAA - heck, Hofstra was only picked to be in the bottom half of the North division. Now granted, Furman has historically not travelled well when playing up North, but Hofstra just handled them today. Could be the start of something good up on the Island.

Impressive win for the Flying Dutchmen! (Sorry, that 'pride' stuff is for the birds). Did anyone show up to see the game? Hofstra has been notorious for minimal fan support over the years, which is ashame since they have a nice stadium.

Did they put Sorrells in because they could not get anything going in the 2nd half .... or was your QB hurt?

Attendance was just over 5000. Coming off a horrible season, that's not bad. Home side was decently filled, the end zone was empty, and there was some attendance on the Furman side, but not a lot.
Next home game for Hofstra is against local rival Stony Brook on the 29th. Should be interesting to see how the attendance is for that one.

Felton was held to 28 yards on the ground? That is pretty impressive there. Tough loss for the SoCon. Hopefully FU can bounce back! I never like to see a conference rival lose. It's like the old saying, "Nobody beats up my kid brother but me"

Wow, what a great win last night. Yes the crowd was only 5K, but we sucked last season.
Defense played lights out in the second half and got great pressure on the QB all night. I give that kid Gray a lot of credit. He took a shot in the first half throwing a long 3rd down completion, i definitely thought his ribs were broken. The SOB pulled himself up from the ground and got right back in the huddle, and you knew he was hurting.
Offensively our new QB Savage looked much more poised than anything we've seen the last two seasons. He did seem to hold the ball a long time on certain plays and took one bad sack early on, but he played well overall. Didn't have happy feet and maintained his composure.
Zarilli had the four FG's, but he did miss two chip shots, one that would have put us up 19-17 at the time. Still some work to do on offense as we can't be trading 7's for 3's when we have the ball 1st and goal inside the 10.
What can i say, i don't want to get too optimistic with the win, but man we started to click on offense and defense made plays when we needed. For the first time in a long time we looked like the team that made halftime adjustments rather than the other way around. Great game by Furman who played hard for the full 60 minutes, just some untimely turnovers and the inability to convert 3rd downs in the second half killed them. I will say this, that tight end looks like he's a good one and can be a play maker.
Lastly, Furman looked like they could make yards with the misdirections that they ran, but it looked like they completely went away from calling them later in the game. They tried to pound it at us straight up and just couldn't make it click. A great win for the Dutch, especially since all i was hoping for was that we would be competitive. Hopefully we continue to play well next week and start getting some consistency.

The turnover on the offensive line may be too much for Felton to overcome, especially early in the season. With Clemson and Wofford coming up in the next three weeks Furman's playoff run may start October 6th vs. CCU.

You have to understand though, teams throw everything but the kitchen sink at Jerome Felton. The line is solid players, but they have an all-american middle linebacker and came in (like Presby did) and said we are going to shut down #45. They did.

I gotta say, that second half of football was the best defensive effort we've had in a couple of years. Then again, we returned a bunch of guys on defense and it was supposed to be the strength of our team. The fumbles however kill momentum. I believe that one drive they fumbled, recovered it, then fumbled again a play or two later and lost it to HU. Clemson will obviously me a huge mountain to climb, but after that they can absolutely regroup.

If they lose both of those games, it might be lights out for the playoffs. Or at least a long shot depending on if they can beat Appalachian. Furman's repuation would likely get them in at 8-3, but it would depend on what everyone wlse does.

Hate to say it, but if we play like this the rest of the season, we'll be fortunate to win 3-4 more games. Special teams and pass defense were critical weaknesses last year. Why are they still weaknesses this year?
Not impressed at all.

I feel like Hofstra was an unknown entity for a lot of fans, and hopefully they will get some deserved respect now. That defensive effort was awesome. As for Furman, I hope y'all can regroup and give the Tigers all that they can handle next week!

I still think this team has enough talent that they can turn things around and make a strong run for the playoffs.
However, this is the absolute worst time to have to go to Death Valley and then have an off week to think about our 1-2ness.
