AGS Playoff Bracket Challenge - After Quarterfinals, Fall 2021

[Preferred Walk-On]

3rd round (quarterfinals)...over. We'll have a new FCS champion this year, and we should have some great fluctuations in the standings in the coming two weeks, given that a significant portion of the leaders have lost one or both of their finalists. However, here (see below) is where we sit after the quarterfinals (and remember, you can always check out the standings, brackets, pick distribution, score/margin differentials, etc by clicking on the link in my signature).

Notables this week were Professor Chaos leading the points scored in the quarterfinal round, El Cid leading in the number of correct picks, and caribbeanhen still leads the overall score; however, Sam Houston losing has put a little crimp in that going forward. As for predicting scores and margins of victory, caribbeanhen led the way in predicting the game scores, and Professor Chaos led in predicting score margins. It is not surprising that these are your current game leaders.

I think there could be a problem with the Massey comparison, however. The Massey predictions would be more suitable for MTfan4life's contest, as his goes week-by-week. I don't think Massey predicted the entire bracket, just week-by-week, and that data is adjusted weekly as well, right? We could do the comparison substituting in predicted scores and assuming those scores carry over to a matchup where a team is no longer playing (just like we are doing for all the brackets), but Massey gets to enter scores after the actual matchup is set, not before like everyone else did.

I have generated a Massey bracket in the score sheet in my signature. This bracket is based off of the weekly Massey predictions, and the championship game was done using the matchup predictor. Next year, I'll have to remember to use the predictor before all the playoff games start to get a better representation of the Massey bracket. I am curious if Sam Houston had won last week, what the South Dakota State @ Sam Houston matchup would have looked like to Massey. Would Massey still have predicted a Jackrabbit win? Anywho, Massey is now in the Challenge retroactively. Enjoy!
