We love playing these kinds of games. You guys beat our ass in 2019 but it was a great experience for our program and would love to back. Obviously JMU is another venue and program we’re looking forward to, regardless how it turns out. These games help programs get better.

SLU has to prevent JMU from jumping too far in front early. I think it will be closer than most, but I still think JMU just has too much. I'm rooting for the Lions, though.

The SLU offense vs the JMU defense will be quite the matchup. I don't think either unit has seen an opponent as good this season as they're about to see on Saturday.

Anyone who runs a pass heavy offense will have a punchers chance against JMU. They'll likely need a few turnovers to go their way to pull it out though.

Not hard to play defense against an offense with no complexity, explosiveness at the skill positions, and a QB who won't run the ball — like shootin' fish in a barrell. The Rattlers were very talented on defense, however, but our O-line did a good job neutralizing the pass rush and got push in the running game. Just glad we got out of there without any more injuries.

JMU thrives on explosive TDs from outside the red zone. If SELA limits those it will be close. If they don't, I expect JMU's defense to find a few more turnovers to tip the scale than SELA's.

If I were betting, I actually would take the under if that 71 number holds. Both teams will be looking to shorten the game.

Earlier in the season SLU may have been able to stay close and even win with a 2 or 3 advantage in turnovers. But JMU has hit their playoff stride and I don't think this one will be close. During the Mike Houston/ Curt Cignetti era JMU has a history of winning playoff games by huge margins in Harrisonburg against teams coming off high scoring Round 1 or 2 playoff performances.

This will be the toughest game for SELA for sure, but JMU hasn't exactly had a tough schedule themselves. After Weber was exposed, Nova was about it, and they lost. I still think JMU wins but it could be close. And who knows if they will be distracted at all with their future plans. Never know.

Wish I could say I'm surprised about the lopsided loss. I thought the Lions were the third best team in the Southland this season and they even should have lost to McNeese State at home. Two playoff appearances, two blowout losses in the second round. As someone once said "Fool me once, shame on...shame on you. Fool me... you can't get fooled again." These games are fun to watch but if teams want to have any success in the postseason, defense has to become a priority.
