I seem to have damn near nailed it. That said, I remember Missouri State vs NDSU and know what they are capable of which is why I am higher on them and UNI at 25 is way too low. Maybe they're not 19 but they are definitely not 25.

I'm with you on Missouri State. I think they have a chance to get to Frisco.I would not want to see them, EWU, or SDSU this year.

Missouri State made NDSU squirm the entire game and Shelley might be the best QB in the FCS. Without Shelley, they are an easy out.

EWU is going to be a tough draw for anyone in the tournament. They may not have a defense but if you don't stop them, good luck. NDSU did the right thing against them last year in making their defense spend damn near all game on the field. They wore them down and their offense decided against slowing down to give them a breather. Best way to beat them is to run the ball and control the clock.

The problem with SDSU is they sell out (plays that is) for NDSU and then they become the biggest Jekyll and Hyde team. You never know which variant is going to show up. They have playmakers up and down the field on both sides and might be the best overall team but that requires 4 quarters of consistent football, something I have not seen, including the NDSU game.

SDSU is 2 plays from being 10-1 and a top 2 or 3 seed, and 1 Hail Mary from behind 9-2 and a 7 seed or so. Whoever gets them in the 2nd round isn't going to be very happy, and it's about a 98.57% chance that it's NDSU.

That Missouri State team was the best team that NDSU played this year (including SDSU), and I think that people (voters) are having a bit of a difficult time overcoming the stigma of being Misery State for so long. Heck, they beat Dixie State 55-24 this week and dropped. If Youngstown State had not beaten them earlier this year...? BTW, YSU also beat Southern Illinois and Incarnate Word (for their other two wins), so...

This way, the committee can say they are regionally organizing it while limiting travel and/or avoiding rematches.

EWU hasa "just enough" defense. They are not bereft of talent on that side of the ball but they do seem to come up with plays when it matters...just enough, for most teams they face.

I hope you're rightI expect the seeds to look like this:

SHSU
NDSU
Villanova
JMU
Sac St
Montana
Montana St
ETSU/Missouri State/EWU

The "bottom" half of the bracket, for seeded teams, will be lighter than the top half of the seeded teams IMO.

Whoever gets these (potentially) unseeded teams in the 2nd round is going to have to bring their A game or they might find themselves with an early exit:

SDSU
Missouri State
Southern Illinois
Eastern Washington
East Tennessee State
Northern Iowa

And to a lesser extent Incarnate Word, Southeastern Louisiana, and South Dakota but only if they get the right matchups.

If they had, even a top 25 defense, they would be damn near unstoppable, but that defense will only take them so far. Barriere (I think that's how it is spelled) is extremely talented, but the key to slowing him down is run the football against EWU defense and make him become a gunslinger. Eventually, the windows he tries to hit (cause he is forced to due to time on the clock) will be closed and the turnovers come a flying.

The spring game was the blueprint to slowing him down.

Missouri State at 10 in this poll is criminal. I had them at 7 and was probably slightly harsh. They are a really good offensive football team. No weaknesses on that side of the ball.

You cant give Barrier any time. If he can sit back he will pick you apart, anyone, he is that good. Early on Montana pressured him, sacked him multiple times, and had him out of sorts. Second half they kept a back in for protection and it gave him more time. He got to Montana in that 4th quarter.

So we nailed 7 of the 8 seeds in the consensus but the lone miss was a pretty big one since we were 5 spots off on Sac St and EWU. Got 12 of 13 at-large right as well and the lone miss was a close one in either direction (we had Mercer as the 2nd to last team in and FAMU as the first team out).

Apparently both the STATS and Coaches polls aren't releasing until tomorrow so will be interesting to see if there's some odd movement to match the committee seeds since both would be quite a but off on the seeds if they just have normal changes.

STATS Poll just dropped: https://theanalyst.com/na/2021/11/fcs-top-25-etsu-kennesaw-state-feel-like-a-10/

They too got 7 of 8 seeds right but they missed on ETSU instead of Sac St. They were also quite a ways off on EWU and ETSU but overall the AGS Poll was much closer on the seeds lines (off by 5 whereas STATS was off by 11). They also got 12 or 13 at large right but they had FAMU in and UNI out. They also missed on Mercer (barely).

Once the Coaches Poll drops later this morning I'll update the poll playoff predictor thread.
