In early June, Chip Kell stopped by the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame for a short meeting.

Most of the state's college football coaches had just left after participating in the annual Peach State Pigskin Preview with the media.

Kell, a member of the state Hall and College Football Hall after a stellar career at Tennessee, had a question.

"So," he began, "is Mercer starting football?"

So, AGS Georgians, football at Mercer? Possible? Likely?

I'm a law student at Mercer. Haven't heard much but will keep my ear to the ground.

They used to play in the SoCon back in the 40s and 50s

I know several people that work at Mercer and nothing has been mentioned...I have heard that Mercer would be one of the last schools in the state to get football....but if they get the funds together(not too hard for them)...they could field a team....there is plenty of talent here in GA to choose from...
