Okay, say you were given the reins of the streaming media capabilities at your favorite athletic department...

What would you do? What would you want to see? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I'm writing up a proposal and who better to ask than fans themselves of what they would like to see...

Shoot me some responses...

Keep in mind, this is outside of live streaming games...

I've always been a fan of Montana's practice of putting up streaming video of our new football recruits each year. It helps to keep the excitement about football when the season is still months away.

Archives of old games are nice, especially big wins you might have had in the past.

If the coach does a show, that would be cool to see for any big sport at the school (i.e. hockey at Colgate along with football).

Season retrospectives are good too. Relive good times with the players and coaches. Like those NFL Films "Yearbook" shows.

Are we talking paid or free streaming?

I like a game archive though if its free thats unlikely cause of the cost. Coaches shows would be nice...maybe a spots show on the schools radio station that could be streamed online so fans off campus can tune in.

I think you have to have a free site for awhile until you fine tune your product and make sure you can provide the content necessary to do it the right way so you can charge...

That is an excellent way to begin the site, TT.

My thinking...

Start with the easy stuff...video interviews of coaches and athletes previewing the week ahead of competition and reviewing the previous week. I don't need a pro to do that, just a backdrop that works and go from there...

After that, find a student or two that can do some decent video production work that wants to get their stuff out there -- maybe make a few highlight videos of recent games or of a few games in one...

Video streaming games is a must and will be a priority...

Eventually, would like to do stories on the people behind the scenes, combining video with feature writing, who make things happen in the athletic department as well as a monthly feature on a student-athlete who is getting it done in the classroom in addition to on the field of play...
