I didnt ever get to an Orono game but I did see 2 Maine games in Easton. On 10/3/81 in our astounding turnaround first year under new HC Bill Russo we went to 4-0 beating Maine 17-0. Russo just passed in late Sept. Anyways I also attended in my senior year a game in Oct 1983 in which we held a commanding 38-14 lead into late 3rd. The Bears scored the winning FG with about 26 seconds left according to a retrieved Bangor Daily Times article on that Leopards season, 39-38. The last time we played was apparently on Oct. 6, 1984, 37 long years ago, in Orono, a 22-20 Bear win. We have always been competitive with each other. Why not? Love to visit the Pine Tree State!

Piss-poor effort by the Owls, and I'm not exaggerating at all when I say we have the most poorly-coached secondary I've ever seen at either the FCS or FBS level. It's baaaad.

There are a lot more key stats than total yardage. 3rd down conversion rate was about even but G-W held a significant edge in First downs (27 to 19), TOP (32+ minutes to 27+), 4th down conversion (3-6 to 0-0) and, most importantly, number of plays (81 to 60). That's a dominant offensive effort. Obviously, doesn't matter if you can't stop the other team though.

UNI is the northern most school in the Valley. It’s just as cold in Des Moines but only UNI gets the **** for it

Cedar Falls and Des Moines are both significantly colder and far more likely to get butt ****ed by snow and -30 to -40 temps than any other Valley school.

UNI more so because campus, especially the athletics area, is on the west edge of campus which is the west edge of Cedar Falls which is a stupidly windy location

The name l, honestly, is fitting. No it’s not Fargo or Grand Forks but it’s closer to those in terms of weather than it is even Normal and Illinois State.

Fourth game in a row decided on the last play of the game. We should have lost by three scores - horrible day for the offense, MoSt has to be licking their chops

What a frustrating game! McNeese was at least a 10 point underdog in everything I saw, but won almost every statistical category, but had the most egregious play calling on the goal line/red zone and the 2-point try. Ridiculous! Holding this Lion offense to its lowest point total all year and losing is sickening! Twice this year McNeese has lost to SLU by 3 points -- in both games McNeese has missed a chip shot field goal. I guess it is too late to find a FG kicker in the transfer portal, but I do hope our coaches are currently recruiting one.
For fans of other conferences, for the past two weeks McNeese has shown you how to deal with UIW and SLU -- put pressure on and harass their quarterbacks and change and disguise defenses. If you do those things and have a good offensive coordinator and a reliable field goal kicker, you will probably win.

The refs flagged an SIU defender for two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties (on two different plays) within the first 8 minutes of the game, thus leading to the player getting ejected (or is it "disqualified"?)
That's the fastest that I've seen that happen. (I've seen ejections due to targeting calls early, but not the pair of UCs).
