Wow. Antithesis of many recruits (no public social media presence, no video games, etc.) despite his pedigree. Good read, though.

Is it despite his pedigree or is it because of good family examples?

I watched the first half of his game the other night- never did see a final score. I had watched The Book Of Manning earlier that day. Quite a family.

In 26 games (10 as a freshman 10 as a sophomore and 6 so far as a junior) he has 686 completions at a 66% rate and 220 yards per game. 72 TD to 17 INT. He averages 8.3 yards per carry on the ground and 16 touchdowns, though he is a Manning so it's not like he's running a lot.
He has the weird situation that he has the best and worst case scenario in front of him. He is the one prospect in history that literally can never live up to expectations. He goes to college, wins a title, wins a Heisman, is a multi time All American? Big deal, it was expected of him. Goes to the NFL and becomes the next Eli, Peyton, Brady, Rodgers, etc? Big Deal. He had it easy from the start growing up in that family. Had the best resources available to him. Had the best people in his ear talking to him.
On the other side he goes to college and is good but not all world? Epic failure to live up to hype. Talked about like he's trash. Get's to the NFL and has even an okay career? He is one of the ultimate "What could have been" stories. God forbid he Ryan Leafs or Jamarcus Russells his career.
I honestly wouldn't want to be in his shoes because of that.
But he has the best group of people in his family that can help guide him should he ask them too.

Good points. I have had been in my mind comparing Arch to Tebow from a decade and a half before (he is now a successful author, CFB TV analyst and foundation head) but Tebow was homeschooled (sport participation was his only school experience) and he wasn't a great recruit out of HS.
Do you think Arch will buck the family trend by attending a B1G school (from what I infer, B1G alumni like Tom Brady, Russell Wilson, Drew Brees stayed the longest as starting QBs in the NFL among QBs who played in the past 3 decades) with a balance of athletic and academic excellence? Or will he stay in the SEC as many people expect him to continue the family trend?

I don't know, and honestly I'm not vested enough to give even a half of a ****.
I just know based on the hype around him that he is in a lose lose situation as far as living up to it.

Or there is another group of people who know that the expectations are ridiculous. Knowing that they wish him well regardless if hes a sports phenom as being successful in life is more important.

Now, he has a shot at a feat that eluded his uncles during their HS days.

The schools currently under consideration in his list are all current or future SEC schools. :(

The Manning's chose to send their kids to Isidore Newman precisely because it WASN'T a football factory. It's an exclusive college prep school....the only reason it's had any success in football is because Archie, and now Cooper, chose to send his kids there. It's on the corner of Jefferson and Loyola, just off St. Charles Avenue, about 1500 feet from Audubon Park, Loyola and Tulane (both also known for academics). The school's got a green color scheme, evocative of nearby Tulane.
The Manning choice of schools is another key to why the kid is so well grounded. They could have sent him to John Curtis, which is a private religious based school with a national championship and 27 state titles. John Curtis has traditionally had a very small enrollment, but always played up in La.,'s highest classification. The fact that they didn't send him there, but chose Newman speaks volumes.

Still all Southern schools...

By all accounts, do you think a B1G school is better for him academically and athletically? Or are B1G QB alumni mixed bags at best?

He chose Texas. Will this decision bug him in the end, as Texas is not an NFL QB U? xchinscratchx

He would be three deep on the NDSU QB depth chart, prove me wrong, fight me. He went to the right place, no QB history, nowhere to go but up.

We have totally relied on updates from his coach... why is he still different? The antithesis of a usual college athlete indeed. xdontknowx

Update:
Can he be better off going pro in the CFL instead? 2027 may be too long for a player of his caliber...
