This happened for several reasons, but the final nail was the fans booing Tim Purpura during the Jeff Bagwell jersey retirement ceremony...

Unbelievable (well, he deserved it) and embarrassing for the Astros brass. Astros have named their coach - Cecil Cooper. This is a done deal. Cooper needs to be the head coach. As far as GM goes, I better not see anyone with the last name 'Smith' as the GM...
