NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Sophomore Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was named the Atlantic 10's Performer of the Week for her efforts last week at the James Madison Invitational. This is the first weekly award for the Spider women's cross country team, and the third weekly award for Stockman in her career. Stockman was twice named the Atlantic 10's Rookie of the Week during the spring season, and this is her first Performer of the Week honor. She finished the 5.2-kilometer race with a time of 18:55.5, setting a new personal record in the distance and finished second overall. She finished nearly seven seconds faster than the next closest competitor in the event. Stockman and the Spiders are back in action on October 1st as they head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh. -- UR --
