SFA AD Ivey tried to schedule a FCS program for this game and had one set up but they backed out, and then it came down to just taking what you could get as he was told no after many requests.

So, no Lincoln was not the first choice.

Also, it is my understanding that Lincoln (CA.) is a Division II team and they actually won their first game yesterday and are 1-1 and their one loss was by 29-31.

They are lead by Tarleton State transfer QB CAMERON BURSTON 6-4; 210 who is a pretty good athlete. He had 338 total yards and 3 TDs at Whitmore coming back from a 31-9 deficit in the 4th quarter.

Not bad for a first year program. :)

North American is neither a member of the NAIA or the NCAA.

Pretty good reasons I think... However, numbers mostly dont mean anything in a rival game. This game has been pretty even over the years.... Series is tied at 7-7. Kats are 2-5 on the stripes, Bears are 2-5 at Bowers.

I like SHSU's chances to control this game. The D-Line is a big problem for opponents and the rushing game has evolved into a power run game. This will be a tough game for SHSU as always, but after the last year, I like this team's demeanor and resolve. #1 in FCS is tough to defend.
