This why when I'm emperor, my 7th edict will be to abolish the BCS.
My 8th edict will abolish the coaches poll
Number 9 will force the AP poll to wait until the last weekend in Sept. to publish their first poll. How in the hell can anyone know who's going to win the conference yet (for those conferences not called the Pacific-10 of course)?

It's the early season polls that I think really f--- up the rankings later in the season.
For example, If they wait 4 weeks, the pollsters can better deterimine if that 3-0 Texas team, who squeaked by TCU and Rice is really the #6 team in the country. Often time, pollsters are reluctant to signifcantly drop a team they voted high in the first place unless that team has lost.
