I would say, yes, a bit. The offense is good, but for a couple of series when Barriere was out with a leg cramp, they couldn’t hardly do anything. Defense is pretty “meh”, but WIU is better offensively than we have been the last few years.

SFA has lost 5 RBs

Down to 1 RB on the roster and at WR converted to RB.

That happened to McNeese in the spring. We used our backup QB as a running back.

Not overly relevant to the bigger season, but ACU was able to pull out its 2nd win in a row. Yes, it was a lower level team again. UTPB is D2, but a team on a 8 game win streak, carrying over from last Spring. Their lines actually out weighed us, and they had been putting up good numbers. We knew they would be a challenge, unlike Louisiana College. We beat UTPB 34-9. At the end of the 1st, it was only 3-3. We had a break out 2nd qtr, then had to grind it out through the 2nd half. The good is that we got several key turnovers that helped keep them in check. The bad is that we actually got worse in stupid penalties and keep shooting ourselves in the foot. Hopefully we can build more momentum, as well as clean up our play. The Lamar win is interesting and it will be a battle next week in Beaumont between two teams in the bottom half of the AQ7.

If Abilene Christian can stop the run, they’ll win easily. That Lamar team is dreadful. They are not good.

We have defended the run pretty well so far this season. We have experience against the option from Army last year, and have continued to practice against it. Keys will be making appropriate adjustments and stopping the idiotic defensive penalties.
