Finley Stadium hosted the annual high school kickoff jamboree (two nights, 16-20 teams playing a quarter a piece) and someone wrote the Chattanoogan.com to complain about the speaker system. Here is the response to the complaint...
Thanks to a group calling themselves “Friends of Finley”, both the stadium scoreboard and the sound system are being replaced at this very moment.
By the end of the week of Aug. 20, the scoreboard, which was originally manufactured by a company that went out of business just a few years after Finley Stadium opened, will have been replaced by much more reliable (and durable) LED technology.
The sound system, which has also been a source of justified concerned, will be completely overhauled by the end of this week as well. The Sound Post, a local business, by the way, has been busy for the last week preparing to install a new speaker system that will be a vast improvement over what has been at Finley Stadium in the past.
The Friends of Finley have raised the necessary money to pay for replacement of both the scoreboard and the sound system and their efforts will be noticeable to any choosing to attend events at the facility.
Obviously, we had hoped to get both projects done by the jamborees the stadium hosted this past weekend, but both projects are complicated and involved long lead times. The criticism of the sound system is justified but is, I promise, being corrected.
I am happy that both capital projects are scheduled to be completed by the end of this week and am sorry that those attending the jamborees were subjected to an inferior sound system.
Please know that everyone involved in Finley Stadium is working diligently to make it everything it can be.

Friends of Finley is a private group composed primarily of UC supporters that have a goal of raising $150K a year for continued improvements to the stadium, they raised the first year goal in about 2 weeks xthumbsupx
