NORFOLK, Va. – Senior cross country student-athlete Peter Borger (Malvern, Pa.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Performer of the Week for his efforts last week at Pole Green Park. The senior runner set a new course record, finishing the 5-kilometer race with an astounding time of 14:45.8. This is Borger's second weekly award from the Atlantic 10, having won Atlantic 10 Rookie Performer of the Week during his freshman campaign in 2018. Borger took first in Saturday's race in a field that featured over 83 runners from the schools of Virginia, George Mason, VCU, Longwood, Christopher Newport and Mary Washington. After keeping pace with the front pack for a majority of the race, Borger turned it on over the final 800 meters. He handily defeated the next three runners by nearly three seconds, running an average mile pace of 4:44.8. Borger and the Spiders return to the course on Friday, September 17th when they head to Harrisonburg for the James Madison Invitational. -- UR --
