2021 AGS Pick'em Challenge (Week 2)

First off, I'm adding a poll to debate the scoring for this season. I haven't done this in years past because we don't pick the same amount of games each week. This season, though, with getting to 30 games every week, we could do the option of dropping your worst scoring week from your total for the season. That way you have the flexibility if you forget to do picks in a given week or just have a dreadful week of picking. It's up to you people, though, so please vote in the poll!

Also, I've added the email option into this week's picks. Please let me know what you think of that being included. You will also have the option to edit your picks as the week goes up until the deadline. I believe that can be accessed simply by clicking the link in the email you receive.

My reasoning for opting for dropping the lowest week is to allow for people to miss a week without being tanked in overall standings. If a player doesn't miss a week, they have the advantage of having their worst stinker dropped off. If you miss a week, your margin for error is decreased.

While I applaud those that never forget or never have something come up where they might miss a week, I am operating under the guise of "life happens" and think that those that do miss for some reason should have a small cushion to still make it worth their while to continue to participate.

However, I could see dropping the lowest week only if someone does not submit picks. If correct (winning) percentage were used as the scoring metric, a down week would still factor into the score (so there would be no advantage for the "bad week" scenario).

Honestly, I am fine with it being either poll choice, but full disclosure, I did vote for the "drop" option.

If that has been the historical results when people missed a week (assuming it was dropped off in the past, I honestly can't remember how you did previous seasons), then it's a moot point. For me personally, if I was even moderately in the hunt and then missed a week that was forgiven, I would try to continue throughout the rest of the year. If missing a week dropped me from middle of the pack to the bottom with an insurmountable deficit, I would be less inclined to continue.

That said... I'm IN for the 2nd straight week!
