Mostly penalties and turnovers. CCSU looks like they took a year off. Southern isn't a bad D-II team - they'll compete in the NE-10. That being said, we have to win this game - no excuses, if we expect to be a NEC contender.

Central Connecticut is upset by D-II Southern Connecticut 28-21.
Central gave up a pick-6 and lost a fumble early when driving for a score. CCSU had 15 penalties for 147 yards
It is a bad loss, but Central outgained Southern 445-290 and led in every statistical category. Next week is a NEC game at Wagner.

USD kicks a FG to tie it.....
except USD coach called TO half a second before the ball was snapped
then the Coyotes elect to go for it (4th and 1-ish) and get stopped turning the ball over to KU
then KU takes it 9 yards in 3 plays, have a 4th and 1 of their own near midfield, and they elect to go for it instead of punting
they get stopped (possibly due to a bad spot), and turn it back over to USD
Coyotes then have a successful offensive series and score a TD to go up by 4

all because of a bonehead targeting on a sliding QB

Man, I was looking forward to watching SFA vs Tarleton tonight. First WAC game, all the hype surrounding Carthel and this new SFA team. Naturally, the fine folks in Nac (who had 9 months to plan) screwed up the broadcast and it won’t be on ESPN+. Nice. Thought we were leaving that in the Southland, Jacks?

I flipped back and forth between these two games and it became pretty clear that the two sidelines that had former NFL All-Pro players with zero head coaching experience were completely lost. Jackson State had an overwhelming advantage over FAMU in terms of player talent and they should have won this game by 30, but their disorganization and poor decision-making kept the score absurdly close. I give TSU's Eddie George a little bit of a pass here because it was his first-ever game as a coach of any kind but he looked like a spectator on the sidelines. I have no idea what he was doing during the game because at no point did it look like anyone was looking to him for a decision.

I just watched a chunk of the FAMU game. You could tell it was game one. Lots of turnovers. On one play there was two fumble turnovers! But you are right, some bad coaching there. I still thought A&M could have won it though.
