COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Richmond soccer team netted its first goal of the season in the first half of Thursday's match against the Maryland Terrapins in College Park. The Spiders struck first in the eighth minute of action, scoring the first goal of the season and taking the early lead. The Spider defense held strong, but a couple unlucky chances sank the Spiders' effort in the second half as Richmond fell 2-1. The Spiders are now 0-2 on the season, while Maryland improves to 3-0.
