Lehigh Sells most Season tickets in 8 Years

South Mountain is awash in optimism over the upcoming season. Reports out of camp are promising with no serious injuries, various freshman appearing ready to make impacts, and returning vets who missed last year due to season ending injuries. In fact, Coach Lembo surprised the team Wednesday when they came out to the practice complex by taking them over the 'Mountain' to Jacobs Pool for an surprise 'beach party' to break the monotony of camp. The mood seems to be infectuous as the business office reported more season tickets have been sold this year since 1997. The Brown & White will have a 'game condition' scrimmage tonight at 7:30 p.m. ending the two-a-days before classes start on Monday. The Alumni Steak Fry, when Lehigh football alumni return to campus and join the team for steaks, tons of other food and, usually, uproariously funny skits--mostly about the coaching staff will occur on Sunday. That is very true. All the preseason pr releases have been noticeably upbeat. I think alot has to do with the parity that is arriving. Most everyone feels they have a legitimate shot at the championship.

They did not say. Most if not all of the chairbacks (about 1500) have been sold, and a good number of tickets in the upper deck benches have been sold. My guess would be around 2500-3000--but that is strictly a guess.
I'm sure Lafayette will be a sellout--deadlline hasn't passed for people to order those, plus there is special ordering for that due to people sittng with their classes, fraternities or sororoties. If things go as planned, and there is enough plans for security, there might be plans for additional seating for the 141st--There has always been concern about crowd control at The Game--so they might limit the seating. The record at Goodman, which has 16,000 permenant seats, not including the grass embankment at the horseshoe end, was 19,110 against Lafayette in 1991. There were larger crowds at old Taylor back in the 1970's and at Lafayette's Fisher before they knocked down the large stand on the visitor's side.
