Wasn't really worth it either. He says he had to prove a point, but it seems worthless.

It was worth it. He had the decision and was probably going to come out at that point. They had no reason to throw at AROD. Clemens got patted on the back by his teammates on the way out. It proved the point and it was awesome.

Towers' beaning of Arod was so obvious. The umps could have avoided what happened if they simply tossed Towers when he dinged Arod. Then there would have been no need for retaliation.
Of course, the umps did the Yanks a favor by keeping Towers in the game.xlolx

Obviously you were on a desert island earlier in the year & missed the A-Rod "I got it" controversy that took place in Toronto.
Typical baseball beanings. I just wish somebody would take a run at Clemens, Rios just wussed out last night, it would've been a classic to see him run out there & beat the living crap out of Clemens.

Agreed with the earlier post - ARod knew he was going to be beaned next time he was in Toronto because of his "I got it" gag last time he was up there. There wasn't anything surprising about that. It's baseball. Just like it's baseball when Clemens throws at a guy later in the game in retaliation.

Yea I don't see the big deal with this one. ARod deserved to get hit, we all knew it was coming. And once Towers mouthed off when he was on first, Clemens had to retaliate at some point. Now if something more happens either way, then it's a bigger deal.

I loved Arod's "Are you talking to me? Are you talking to me?" Stalling with words juuuuuust long enough that his teammates would come and rescue him so that he wouldn't have to girly-slap a bitch and get his pretty face all jacked up. xcoolx

What's really a big deal is: The Yankees are playing like the best team in baseball... and gaining on the Red Sox and really gaining on the wild card...
this second half will be fun..!!! (and I'm a Red Sox fan) xoopsx

They have a tough schedule coming up....no more fodder like they had in July and early August like the Rays, Royals, Blue Jays, etc.

I said it in another thread but the Yankees are about to enter a really tough stretch of schedule & the Red Sox are eating a lot of cupcakes over the next month.

Is it true that Clemens yelled "Remember Piazza!" after that pitch to Rios?xconfusedx

Clemens has never need a "reason" to retaliate. xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx xcoolx

Yeah, because it wasn't as if the Jays hadn't already thrown at Rodriguez this series. Oh wait, they did that the day before, only they missed xdohx xrolleyesx
Towers' beaning last night was totally unnecessary, and I'm glad Clemens felt the need to respond. I'm all for hard-ball justice, but that moment was passed, and Toronto did themselves no favors by dwelling on the issue any longer.

A-Rod deserved it. He's a pansy (just like somebody referred to in an earlier post) and he presents a pathetic image to people who watch the game of baseball. Think about this: your son plays little league, and idolizes A-Rod. You see A-Rod try to knock the ball out of the first basemen's glove in the ALCS (and then claims flailing his arms is part of his normal running motion). You see A-Rod make a fielder miss a catch because he yells something as he runs by. Lastly, you see that A-Rod might be doing some questionable things off the field (i.e. going into a hotel with a rather suggestive looking woman). Are you going to let your son see those things without telling him that they are mistakes and that A-Rod needs to clean up his act?
I know I wouldn't. You can put Barry Bonds in this same boat. They're both trash. Maybe that's why them call him A-Rod: because he has a rod up his xazzx.
I say the Jays throw at him again. And harder next time too.

He's not a 'dirty' player, per say. But he definitely is not a 'Yankee'. I am in no way, shape, or form a Yankee fan. But I know what a true 'Yankee' is when I see one, and I do have respect for those players (despite my rants at times! xlolx ). Jeter. xnodx O'neill. xnodx Rivera. xnodx A-Rod will never, ever be a true 'Yankee'. xsmhx xsmhx

I wouldn't call A-Rod dirty, but I'd call him petty maybe. The slapping the ball from Arroyo in Game 6 & the "I got it". All kinda childish.

I actually never had a problem with the slapping of the ball. I find it no different than when people try to barrell over catchers. He would have been out if he didn't try it anyways. If he was able to get away with it good for him. As it stands, he was called out.

People who are defending the slapping of the glove in the ALCS: find me another player who has done that recently.

There are lots of guys I'd worry about my kids idolizing before A-Rod's name came up. In fact, I'd put Clemens ahead of A-Rod. And Bonds.

Bonds I can understand. But Clemens? Gimme some reasons, I'm intrigued.
