A two-win season will not be acceptable to Savannah State (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Savannah+State+University) second-year football coach Theo Lemon (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Theo+Lemon).
SSU (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Savannah+State+University) was 2-9 last season, an improvement from the Tigers' 0-11 record in 2005, but Lemon (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Theo+Lemon) is demanding more victories.
SSU (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Savannah+State+University) will begin its sixth season of competition in the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly Division I-AA (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=National+Collegiate+Athletic+Associa tion), against Morgan State (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Morgan+State+University) on Aug. 30 in Baltimore (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Baltimore).

On March 20, Lemon (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Theo+Lemon) suspended eight players, including six starters, for the remainder of spring practice for violating team policy. The suspensions, combined with injuries, left the Tigers with only 32 players who practiced that day.
Because of a lack of depth, Lemon (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Theo+Lemon) canceled SSU (http://savannahnow.com/content/related?topic=Savannah+State+University)'s annual Orange and Blue spring game, which was scheduled for March 31.
The University has been looking at returning to Div-II recently. It may be another long season for the Tigers.
