North Dakota State was the 1980's 103-20-2.

Interesting note in 1972:

Just off the top of my head, without actually doing any fact finding...I would think Lafayette's best decade would be either the 80's when they had Frank Bauer on the cover of SI and Bill Russo was winning the Eddie Robinson trophy or the early 90's when we had Erik Marsh and high-octane offense (of which I was a proud member!) lead us to two league championships. Course we won a couple of National Championships back in the 20s but does that really count? My philopophy is if you could fold up your helmet and put it in your back pocket after the game...it doesn't count.

Pard, I would beg to differ. Your juggarnaut teams of the 1920's were national powers. Also--has to be a decade--not half of each! :D
Don't have time to research right now, but I'd surmise our best decade was the 1970's with several playoff appearances, and the National Championship in 1977, and I-AA runner-up in 1979.

It should be noted that according to NCAA Records, that is the best turnaround season of any program in NCAA history.

Great man , really great guy to know. I bet he would love to be coaching in this era. I honestly think he would play more out of conference games against some of the other teams in 1-AA.

What's amazing is that last year's national runner-up Griz team, at 12-3 (80% wins), didn't even have an average winning percentage for Griz teams of this period (80.58% wins).

If you spend any time on the Griz message boards, you'd think last season was far worse than merely marginally below the best winning percentage among playoff I-AA teams for the past decade (which is what the Griz have had). Amazing how spoiled some fans are.

Ughhh! 12-3!!! We weren't even "average"!!!! What an outrage!!!!! Break out the pitchforks and torches and run Hauck outta town!!!!! ;)

Thats a combind record of 106-28.

Here is from that time to current which hasnt been to bad either just not as good as the 80's and early 90's. Its actually 11 years but you guys get the point.
