Apparently Boston managed to hold onto Gerald Green which makes it more barable..

A league source just confirmed that the Celtics and Timberwolves have finalized a deal that will bring Kevin Garnett to Boston in exchange for Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and two first round draft picks.

Garnett is expected to arrive in Boston this afternoon for a physical.
Garnett has agreed to a three-year extension with the Celtics beyond the two remaining on his contract, guaranteeing that he will be a Celtic for the next five years.

The paperwork is in the hands of the Commissioners office for final approval.

Yes, it's a bitter pill to swallow to all of a sudden become a front runner in the Eastern Conference for the next 4 years at least. Bummer dude. xoopsx xoopsx xoopsx xoopsx

Does it matter? Cleveland pretty much got to the Finals with two less guys than that.

What many people are forgetting here is that the deal is great for both teams. I've read too many national media stories about how this is a difficult pill to swallow for T-wolves fans. While fans are sad to see Garnett go, this will make the team better in the long run. The expiring contracts will open the door for free agents after next year and throw in the two extra draft picks with the picks from recent years (McCants, Foye, Brewer).

From the majority of Twolves fans' perspective (at least the consensus of the talk radio and other media outlets), it was time that a deal was made and we start over, although realizing that things will get worse before better.

The deal is not as good as the pre-draft deal with the 5th pick involved. So if I was going to blame Garnett for anything, it would be axing that deal.

I was never a big KG fan. He is a great player, but when the games on the line, he'll prefer a 20' fade-away vs taking the ball strong to the hoop. He's entertaining, quiet, stays out of trouble, but he has gotten into spats with team-mates. The press loved him here in Minnesota, so there was rarely bad press. It was difficult for McHale to get good players to come to Minnesota, especially with so much money tied up in one player.

Well said. Great player to have on your team and the fans love him. But with his salary, it was difficult to build around him. Plus, he wasn't a guy you could count on to take the big shot at the end of the game.

Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo will likely be the other starters.

Timberwolves bought out T-Huds contract, being a close friend of KG's, T-Hud may be headed to Boston as well.

they need another point guard, relying on solely rajan rondo would not be the best option. I think rondo will be good but too soon to hope he doesn't blow it next year.
