League Coaches and SiD's Tabbed Cowboys As Team To Beat

FRISCO, Texas-- McNeese State, the reigning Southland Conference football champions have been picked to win the 2007 title this season by the league's head coaches and sports information directors. The poll was released at the Southland Conference Media Days which began this morning. The Cowboys will be aiming to capture its 12th overall title.
The defending champions received six of the possible eight first-place votes from the coaches with five SID's picked the Cowboys as the team to beat. After starting the 2006 season with a 1-3 record, Matt Viator was named head coach midway through the season and guided the Cowboys to 6-2 overall record and a 5-1 league record.
Stephen F. Austin received the other two-first place votes from the head coaches followed by Sam Houston State, Northwestern State, Texas State, Nicholls State, Central Arkansas and Southeastern La. tied for seventh place.
The sports information directors have Sam Houston State picked second followed by Stephen F. Austin, Texas State, Northwestern State, Central Arkansas, Nicholls State and Southeastern La.
