Reserve punter will be of utmost importance early in the season as incumbent Neil Young tests his injured knee for the first time since undergoing season-ending surgery midway through last season.

2006: Appeared in four games, making five punts on the season ... was called on for short distance punts following Young’s injury versus Wofford ... punted twice in double-overtime win at Georgia Southern, averaging just 26.5 yards per punts, but pinning GSU inside its own 20 with both kicks ... three of his five punts on the campaign were inside the 20 ... was in on the tackle following his first collegiate punt versus Mars Hill.

2005: Redshirted.

High School: Passed for 1,500 yards as a senior season in addition to putting together a 43.7-yard punting average… named all-conference, all-county, all-area and all-Northwest as a quarterback in 2004 … rated by Scout.com as the No. 8 punter in the nation … coached by Mark Holcomb.

2007 -- Listed as starter at Slotback Receiver (C-back)

High School -- A cousin of former Mustang standout wide receiver/return specialist Darrell Jones, Grayson rushed for 2,180 yards and 28 touchdowns as a senior under head coach Ken Peralta at Marin Catholic High in Kentfield. He also caught passes for 315 yards and three scores and intercepted a pair of passes, helping the Wildcats to a 10-3 record, a perfect 8-0 Marin County Athletic League mark and a runner-up finish in the CIF-North Coast Section Class 2-A playoffs. Grayson was named MCAL player of the year, MCAL back of the year, North Bay player of the year and earned first-team All-MCAL as both a running back and defensive back and second-team all-state as a cornerback. In 2004 the Wildcats were 11-2, 7-1 in the MCAL and were runners-up in the NCS playoffs. Grayson was a first-team All-MCAL all-purpose player and second-team All-Metro as a wide receiver. San Jose State, Idaho State, Cornell and Portland State also were interested in Grayson.
