If this kid is the next Messi, and Messi is the next Maradona, then he's the next-next Maradona, right? xeyebrowx

No pressure kid. Put that school book down and go make history.

He won't be on the first team, if that's what you're thinking. He'll go throught the youth development system, and will probably attend some sort of school while he does.

Yes, the academies clothe, feed, board, and teach you. We finally have a pseudo development program for soccer-- The camp down in Florida. Project 40 started it in America...and now we are moving to the youth development programs much like the rest of Europe. I know that each team is looking into an academy.

And people talked about the NBA like they were stealing from little old ladies because they used to let highschool GRADS enter the draft. xlolx

Yeah, but those high schoolers were also going right to NBA rosters and playing actual NBA games. Munich's 13-year-olds are just basically going to an Academy/Reserve team until he's about 17-18 (if he pans out like they want, I'm sure). He won't face real Bundesliga competition at least until 16-17 if he's loaned out, although I doubt Bayern would loan him out if they're that high on him. Basically, it's as if the Celtics could draft and hold the rights to some kid out of a Boston high school, then sign him whenever they felt he was ready while he went to college or something. Similar to how the NHL does things, actually.

Of course, IMHO, it's all still a bit too young for lots of these kids. xtwocentsx

Agreed Raider. One other thing. These kids get housed and go to school. It is like Prep School. We do have Prep schools here in the states.

Pro's is PRO's wether it's the big league's or the reserves.xsmhx

If an 18 year old is to young to go to the NBA then a dang 13 year old is to young to be even looked at.
Can't have it both way's.

This is like saying a BASEBALL PLAYER drafted str8 out of highschool is the same as this kid because he is going to the MINOR LEAGUE's.xeyebrowx

I see where you're coming from, but keep in mind he's still getting an education like normal kids. For the record, I think the NBA's age rule is stupid.

Actually, it's not the same in the Bundesliga and the rest of the premier european leagues. They don't operate the same way that reserve/minor leagues do in the U.S.
