They have just released the CAA All Conference list. Richmond has four players I was only suprised by Tim Silver but I guess it is harder to judge Offensive Lineman. I am still happy with those selections tough. I think that Arman Shields will have a great season, Logan will continue what he has always done and be dominant and David Thorton will just keep getting better.

7 of 22 first teamers? Come on what is there to complain about. Pretty much every player who returns for us got 1st team All CAA. Coen will get his first team honors next year when Santos grads.

I'm not saying I disagree, but if Towson makes the play-offs Schaefer might give Coen a run for his money for that 1st team slot! It should be very interesting...

Coen had a real nice year, but I was not all that impressed with him as a 'carry the load QB' and he did not play well in their semi final win at Montana or their defeat vs ASU. I'd take Schaefer over Coen in a heartbeat. Coen had the luxury of playing on an outstanding UMass team that relied on defense and an outstanding running game. As a result, Coen was never really was asked to put the team on his back, as was Schaefer at Towson. Coen is a good QB, but in my opinion, there will be at least three better ones (Santos, Schaefer, Flacco) playing in the CAA this year.

PS - what's the over/under on umassfan's response

:D

From a UMass fan, I like...I like a lot...

I've been downplaying our chances this year due to the losses...I think I may just reevaluate...

All teams have some losses, some just more than others. This is the main reason most of us that know CAA Football well know that UMass is still the team to beat and Delaware returning 10 offensive players will be a force to be reckoned with.

Now if UMass had lost 30 seniors like Coastal... xeekx that would be a different story.

I like how Mo Murray keeps getting bypassed for the first team.

Let the season begin so he can exceed his 2006 numbers ...

It's not like he's being bumped out by chumps here - Holloman had better rushing numbers last year and Cuff is a better all-around back than the one-dimensional Murray (only 83 receiving yards last year). What's your argument on how he should be ahead of those guys?

My argument is that he's not a one-hit wonder. He's been consistent running the ball for three years and he's one dimentional not by his choice.

And Hollomon DIDN'T have better numbers than Murray last year.

Cuff and Hollomon have had very good QB's to offset teams playing eight in a box against them. You see any NU QB's among the passing leaders?

Really my beef is with Joe Casey being named twice. Not hard to rack up yards in that offense.

2004 - 326 rushing, 24 receiving, 8 TD
2005 - 998 rushing, 0 receiving xeyebrowx zero?, 11 TD
2006 - 1061 rushing, 83 receiving, 10 TD
Total - 2385 rushing, 107 receiving, 29 TD

Cuff
2003 - 673 rushing, 11 receiving, 8 TD
2004 - 1237 rushing, 414 receiving 18 TD
2005 - 547 rushing, 277 receiving, 8 TD *injured and played only 7 games
Total - 2457 rushing, 702 receiving, 34 TD

Mo is great, but he is behind Cuff, plain and simple.

Fine you think Cuff is better.

Like I stated it's not Murray's fault that he hasn't received the passes. That's on Rocky Hager.

Again, I think that's more of a product of mediocre play at QB.

Not bad for a player that had a bad injury last year and also caught the ball a LOT more.

Oh, and Joe Casey rules! :p

Umm, FYI, Murray played sparingly vs. ND State, JMU and Richmond with a ankle injury.

And Joe Casey doesn't catch the ball either wise guy ... xsmiley_wix
