The Silver Dollar Classic -- which was going to feature Alcorn State and Morehouse -- was canceled. Apparently, Alcorn State worked hard to make this game happen and finally, gave in, though it was announced as far back as June 5th that the game would be canceled...
Bad news for Alcorn State is they only will play 10 games this year due to the lateness of this game being dropped...where's the blame to be pointed?

Alcorn State, MS----The Silver Dollar Classic promoters have notified the officials of Alcorn State University that the September 29, 2007 game between Morehouse College and Alcorn State has been canceled. Proper sponsorship was not secured in order for the classic to materialize. The Braves will play a 10-game season with September 29, 2007 being an open date for the team. At the present time, an eleventh game would be difficult to add to the schedule.
In 2006, the Braves were victorious in the Silver Dollar Classic against Morehouse winning 23-6.
Alcorn State University’s officials would like to thank the fans for their patience as attempts were made to negotiate the Silver Dollar Classic.

SILVER DOLLAR CLASSIC & BATTLE OF THE BANDS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED
Las Vegas, NV (June 5, 2007) -The Silver Dollar Classic scheduled to take place September 28-29, 2007 at Sam Boyd Stadium has been canceled. The two day event, which included the third annual black college football game and Battle of the Bands, did not receive the corporate participation necessary to cover all expenses.
“After extensive discussion with the event promoters,” said Daren Libonati, executive director of the Thomas & Mack Center. “We decided it was in the best interest of all parties to cancel this event.”
