Lehigh left their horrendous dual meet season in the rear view mirror and surprised Navy and Army by winning 4 individual titles and placing all ten men in the tip 5 of their weight classes to win the EIWA championship for the 4th year in a row. Lehigh heavyweight Jordan Wood won his 4th title, making him the first EIWA 4-time heavyweight champ in history. He also became Lehigh's 5th 4-time EIWA champ at any weight, with the last one being in 1983.
Lehigh's season was interrupted several times with cancellations and shutdowns causing havoc with the training, but they were able to focus their training for the three weeks prior to the tourney and it showed. Countless times, Lehigh wrestlers won their matches in the last minute of the third period or scored often for bonus points and falls. A truly remarkable coaching effort by Pat Santoro and his assistants of Brad Dillon Zach Rey, and Darian Cruz.
From freshmen being thrown into the deep end to a fifth year senior coming out of mothballs and 'pinch hitting' with an 0-0 record this year and 6-9 record over four, who ended up placing fifth. Lehigh was without Brandon Paetzel (125) and Humphreys (157) who were expected to bring championships and a lot of points this year.
The final standings of the Top 5 were: (1) Lehigh 158.5 (2) Navy 129 (3) Army 119.5 (4) Hofstra 106.5 and (5) Drexel 89.5
Nationals will be March 18-20 in St. Louis. No fans allowed per latest NCAA directive, so ESPN and Flo Wrestling will be the only way to watch.
