The William & Mary women's cross country team opened the season on Saturday afternoon, finishing eighth overall at the Spider/Patriot Winter XC Classic. The Tribe overtook Duquesne over the last lap of the race at Pole Green Park to beat out the Dukes by a point in the final standings. No. 20-ranked Georgetown and Connecticut both scored 42 points to stand atop the table, with the Hoyas winning the tie-breaker by having each of their first three runners beating out their counterparts on the Huskies. Individually, Georgetown's Sami Corman won the 5K race by over two seconds, crossing the finish in 16:55.8.
