Bomar and Quinn have cost Oklahoma FB 8 wins in 2005 season. Two of our projected big names in FCS this year will be busy answering more questions for a while now.

Oklahoma must forfeit 2005 football season
By Associated Press
July 11, 2007
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – The Oklahoma football program must forfeit its wins from the 2005 season and will lose two scholarships for the 2008-09 and 2009-10 school years. The penalties, announced Wednesday by the NCAA, stem from a case involving two players, including the Sooners' starting quarterback, who were kicked off the team for being paid for work they had not performed at a Norman car dealership.
The NCAA said Wednesday morning it planned to announce its decision about possible sanctions against the Oklahoma football program, more fallout from a case that came to light last year when two players – including the Sooners' starting quarterback – were kicked off the team.
In an e-mail sent to media outlets, the NCAA said a 2 p.m. conference call with Miami athletics director Paul Dee, the acting chairman of the NCAA Committee on Infractions, was scheduled to discuss the case.
On Aug. 3 – the day before the Sooners began preseason practice – Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops dismissed quarterback Rhett Bomar and offensive lineman J.D. Quinn from the team amid allegations that the players had been paid for work they had not performed at a Norman car dealership.
The NCAA subsequently alleged that Oklahoma had failed to adequately monitor the employment of several athletes, including some football players

To me, games are won and lost on the field. Never have liked, or agreed with the concept of forfeits. In my mind, this doesn't change anything, regardless of the eligibility of players. Seems pretty harsh that Bomar and Quinn are being punished that severely when a lot of other players have gotten wrist-slapped for a lot worse actions.

What would be the purpose in deleting this? It concerns two players that are now VERY prominent in FCS.

All they have to do is combine the thread, not delete anything. When something like this is at the top of the board, it is going to be what is read and responded to.

This seems pretty crappy to do. Bomar and Quinn paid thier dues, but why do they have to punish the whole team for?
And I'm glad our guy didn't let out a curse word to the reporter. Always bad form to do so. I really with this whole ordeal would be given a rest already.

wow. why should people stop talking about it? seriously, these guys just set one of the biggest college football programs (with tons of tradition) back a few years. just because the players moved on and "paid their dues" (having to "move down" to play football) doesn't mean we should turn the other cheek and pretend they are angels.
but i am tired of talking about it. i wonder if quinn and/or bomar would be approached for comment...

Quinn did make a comment, Bomar declined:
http://www.missoulian.com/articles/2007/07/12/sports/griz/gr68.txt
"Bomar and Quinn each lost a year of eligibility and transferred to other schools - Bomar to Sam Houston State and Quinn to Montana. They are eligible to play this fall.
When reached on his cell phone, Quinn said he did not pay any attention to the infractions committee's ruling on Oklahoma, calling it “dumb” and referring to it with an expletive.
“I have no idea,” Quinn said. “I don't care.”
Bomar has been ordered by the NCAA to pay back more than $7,400 in extra benefits to charity, while Quinn was told to pay back more than $8,100.
Through Sam Houston State athletic department spokesman Paul Ridings, Bomar declined comment Wednesday."

Quinn acted like an ass on TV when some reporter called him. At least Bomar has class in the way he's going through it.
Stain on Montana again.

Class???? Maybe "not" foolish but since when is keeping quiet the same as being classy? SHSU and Montana each have one of these players. Neither school is "stained" but they each have a tainted player which has sat out and are now entitled to play the game again.
